35 points / A somewhat thorough and in-depth response to the prompt is present. Essay demonstrates somewhat of an understanding of the literature through a developed and somewhat insightful analysis of the text.
30 Points / A response to the prompt is present but demonstrates little understanding of the text. The analysis is simple and lacks development and insight.
25 Points / Essay lacks a thorough and in-depth response to the prompt. It does not demonstrate an understanding of the text and a developed and insightful analysis is not present.
20 Points
In-text citations / Three to five quotes are used appropriately as textual evidence to support analysis. Quotes are correctly cited in MLA format and effectively incorporated into the paper.
25 points / One to two quotes are used appropriately as textual evidence to support analysis. Quotes are correctly cited in MLA format and effectively incorporated into the paper.
20 points / One to two quotes are used as textual evidence to support analysis. Quotes are incorrectly cited in MLA format AND/OR are not effectively incorporated into the paper.
