Any questions should be directed to one of the managers.
Please keep in mind that at Horror Hill and 13 Stories all our employees, with the exception of a few, are hired as volunteers as 13 Stories Haunted House is a seasonal operation. Volunteers are offered a cash stipend for days worked based on the scale to follow.
RULES OF THE SHOWS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Dress Code:
- Everyone will be required to wear all black clothing. No short sleeves. If approved to wear short sleeves by Allyn Glover you will be required to wear black makeup on your arms. If you are not approved to wear short sleeves and arrive that way you will be required to reimburse 13 Stories Haunted House for makeup costs associated with having to blacken your arms. No emblems or lettering shall be allowed on shirts, jackets or clothing. Very small logos that can be easily covered will be approved on a case by case basis. Employees should come to work in the black clothing you are going to wear in your scene unless you have a costume that is kept at the show. In this case you will wear dark clothing underneath. If you do not come to work with the proper clothing you will be given a shirt if available and receive a rules violation. This means NO PAY FOR THE SEASON.
- Everyone is required to wear black or dark colored sneakers, boots or other comfortable footwear as approved.
- Flip Flops or any open toed shoes are not allowed unless specifically approved for that scene by Allyn Glover.
- Provocative or objectionable clothing will not be tolerated unless it is part of a scene. This includes low cut shirts that show ANY PART of the chest, low riding pants or shorts, short cut shorts or clothing with objectionable content, etc. The highest manager in charge on site will make the final determination on what is appropriate. Employees will not wear clothing that is not approved to 13 Stories with the expectation of changing clothes before the shows open. The prohibited clothing above is not allowed on 13 Stories property EVER.
Altering Scenes/Props/Acts:
- Do not change or modify a scene, script, prop or act in a scene without prior consent from the highest manager in charge.
- Do not remove or move anything (props) from sets in the shows.
- Do not paint or mark on anything. The scenes have been arranged how we like them. Many hours have gone into them.
- Cast members are NEVER to hit walls with anything, especially your hands unless the scene specifically calls for it. This is an ever growing issue and can easily cause injuries.
- Do not bring ANYTHING to use in the shows that is not approved. This includes gunpowder, chemicals, weapons, fireworks, chainsaws, etc.
- 13 Stories Haunted House now offers laser tag as an option. The replica weapons used look very real therefore NO FIREARMS of any kind are allowed on 13 Stories Haunted House property.
- No weapons of any kind are allowed that aren’t approved for the shows. This includes blades, guns, pepper spray, sticks, etc. The only authorized items at 13 Stories are: Flashlight, cooler with ice and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks and any other items approved by management.
- Smoking of cigarettes is not allowed EVER in view of customers. At 13 Stories there is no smoking by order of the fire marshal within 15 feet of any building or structure. A smoking area will be designated for cast and crew.
- Any golf cart/ATV is off limits to everyone except management. Management DOES NOT have the authorityto allow the use of a golf cart or ATV. You are not allowed to bring your own ATV or golf cart. NOONE is allowed to ride on an ATV, golf cart or trailer as a passenger unless approved by Allyn Glover.
- No one is allowed in the shows that is not approved and/or not working. This includes family members, friends and boy/girlfriends. You, your family, or your friends are not to come to the shows just to “hang out”. You are not allowed to bring friends to walk through the shows when we are not open.
- Once you are assigned to a spot or set, you are NOT to move from that spot. This rule is not to be misunderstood. This seems to be the rule broken most often and is the easiest way to be asked to leave. IF YOU MOVE FROM YOUR SPOT YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. If you are caught missing a group you will be given a Rules Violation. On a second violation you will be asked to leave. Do not come out of a show during operating hours.
- Bring a small cooler to store drinks and snacks for yourself if you like. Please remember to do this. You will be acting out yourscene more than 100-200 times some nights and will get very thirsty and hungry. Do NOT leave your trash in your scene. This will be checked on a nightly basis and will result in a Rules Violation. Drinks and snacks will be available at 13 Stories and you may charge them against your stipend account.
- You must be able to work the entire night that you are here. If there are still customers in the shows after we close everyone will be expected to stay until all customers have walked through. This has been an increasing problem in the past. Please make the necessary arrangements beforehand. We make every effort to get you out as soon as possible on school nights.
- A nightly meeting will take place at a predetermined location after the shows close. A manager must approve if you will not be able to stay a full night so that he/she is able to fill the spot when the time comes. You must notify management BEFORE the nightly pre-show meeting. You are required to make sure your spot is covered before you leave. You are not allowed to come to the shows anytime that they are not in operation unless otherwise approved.
- We will not tolerate the use of profanity. If a manager or customer hears profanity you will be asked to leave immediately.
- Do not talk to customers while you have on a mask unless you are in an act. This includes your friends. Stay in character!!
- Do not walk in view of customers while in costume or with your mask off when not in a haunt scene.
- If you are one that uses a chainsaw in your scene, you are to stay at least 5 feet away from customers. If you are in a small scene with the chainsaw it MUST be kept down away from customer’s hair and face. The engine of the chainsaw has a vacuum effect and will suck hair and clothing inside. When a customer begins running from a chainsaw that is when you are to stop. If someone gets hurt while you are chasing them YOU are liable for their injuries. DO NOT CHASE PEOPLE WITH A CHAINSAW. EVER.
- Do not go into storage rooms unless given permission by a manager.
- No one is allowed in the ticket booth, Manager’s Lounge or Concession Stand without permission from Allyn Glover.

- If you are assigned a radio or headset for security or crowd control purposesDO NOT PLAY ON THE RADIOS!!!!! Violation of this rule will get you removed from the show very fast. Managers have at least 10 things on their minds at one time while working. They are also monitoring the radios. It is impossible to concentrate when people are using the radios improperly. Bringing your own radios to the trail is STRICTLY prohibitedunless approved by management. If you accidentally take home a radio and don’t bring it back, the price will be deducted from your stipend.
- If you are supposed to be at work please be here and stay here. We have had a problem in the past with people coming to work and then leaving so that their parents or guardians don’t know. We keep tabs all through the night. Your parent or guardian will be called if you do not show for work or do not stay at work.
- Do not take anything home that belongs to Horror 13 Storieswithout permission. This includes masks, costumes, props, lights, etc. If you take something home that is approved, make sure you have a sign out sheet from a manager.

Tell the manager of the problem and they will call security. Get a good look at the offenders and be able to identify them later. You will not be helping us to identify the person that hit you if you do not get a good look at them. Do not stop working and miss a group because you got hit as long as you are not injured. Just notify someone with a radio in your area.
- Do not shine your flashlight when a group is near.
- Please do not yell during a show unless it is in an act.

- Make sure you use the restroom before coming to work. Portable bathrooms will be available.
- Weather is never an issue as our location is completely indoors.
- Dependable transportation will be a must for you during the show. Please make necessary arrangements beforehand.
- Cast may be warned one time if it is discovered that the scene is not being acted correctly. Examples would be acting uninterested, saying off the wall things, general rudeness. After the warning, suspensions will be imposed. Management may decide not to warn a cast member and relieve him or her of his or her or duties immediately. Cursing will not be tolerated and will get you fired immediately.
- Management, security, and I will be walking around during the shows at all times.
- DO NOT touch anyone that you are scaring. This is a big No-No and it is against the law. In the Sacrifice Haunt waivers are signed and this does not apply.
