MINUTES

April 12, 2016

@5:30pm in ROOM 36 (HS Computer Lab)

I.  Opening Business

·  The meeting was called to order at 5:32pm.

·  The following members were present for the meeting: Brandy Feagan, Deana Cummins, Paradise Forbes, Gina Smith, Kacie Peer, Terri Barton, Adam Coleman, Alicia Johnson, & Angel Crump.

·  The April Agenda was approved by consensus.

·  The March Minutes were approved by consensus.

·  The following Good News Reports were shared with Council:

·  Congratulations to Chris Parsons and Haley Howe for being named as members of their respective 32nd District All-Tournament Teams!

·  Congratulations to Rachel Montgomery and Katie Cheek for signing to play college basketball! Rachel will be attending Grace College in Indiana, and Katie will be attending Brescia University in Owensboro, KY.

·  Congratulations to the Archery Team for coming in 4th place at the KHSAA Region 5 tournamenton 3/12!​

·  Congratulations to the Senior High Band of Spirit for qualifying for the State Concert Band Festival afterreceiving all Distinguished ratings and distinguished in sight reading at their assessment last Wednesday, 3/9!

·  Congratulations to the 7th grade concert band for receiving all Distinguished ratings at the KMEA District 6 Concert Festival last Tuesday, 3/8!

·  Congratulations to the JV and Varsity Lady Demons Softball on their wins against Pendleton County and Carroll County. The Lady Demons have started their season very strong!

·  Thank you to Mrs. Scheiding for organizing a successfulCareer Fair on the 17th!

·  Congratulations to Brennan Stanley, Michaela Kennedyand Rachel Montgomeryfor being selected to the 8th Region Coaches' Association All Region Team.

·  Congratulations to the MS Track Team for placing 3rd overall in their meet at Grant County on Friday, 3/18!

·  Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball team on their win against Dayton on 3/29!

·  Congratulations to the FCCLA students that participated at the KY FCCLA State competition this week! Megan Robinson was elected the KY FCCLAVice-President of Community Service! Haley Middleton, Ryan Parsons, and Macy Linder won 2nd place in the Environmental Ambassador Jr. category! Karlee Dungan, Tori Fryman, and Ruthie Blaine won 1st place in the Life Event Planning Jr. category! Everyone has qualified to compete at the FCCLA Nationals this summer in San Diego, CA!

·  There was no Public Comment.

II.  Student Achievement

·  The Student Achievement Report was shared and discussed among Council. Gains were noted in most grade levels. (Report Attached)

III.  School Improvement Planning

·  An update was provided regarding efforts made toward the School Improvement Plans.

IV.  Budget Report

·  All current budgets/accounts were reviewed and approved by consensus.

·  The 2016-2017 Draft Budget Report was revised and approved.

V.  Policy Review

·  Council read and approved updates to the Field Trip Policy and Transfer of Funds Policy.

VI.  New Business

·  Council reviewed and approved the draft Professional Development/Learning Plan for 2016-2017.

·  Council reviewed and approved the Title I and Title II plans for 2016-2017.

·  Council reviewed and approved the ESS plan for 2016-2017.

·  The following field trips were reviewed and approved by consensus.

·  The following fundraisers were reviewed and approved by the Council.

Junior Class/Prom Committee/Johnson / Jr. High Masquerade Dance—May 6

VII.  On-going Learning

·  Mrs. Feagan shared with Council that, in March and April, Kentucky Education Commissioner Stephen Pruitt is holding regional Town Hall Meetings across the Commonwealth to develop a moreeffective accountability system and shared that the closest venue for our area is at NKU on April 25, 2016. Council members were encouraged to attend.

VIII.  Upcoming Deadlines

·  The following deadlines were shared with Council:

o  April-May—Council Elections

o  May 1 ––Each local board shall provide each school council notice of an updated staffing and budget allocation for the coming fiscal year.

o  May 1 ––The annual nutrition report (district requirement) and physical activity report (school requirement) due to KDE no later than May 1.

o  May 15 ––The Combining Budget and the Individual Activity Account Budget Worksheets are due to the district finance officer. (See Redbook)

o  June 1 ––Program Review due in Assist

IX.  Adjournment

·  The meeting was adjourned at 6:34pm.

·  The next meeting will be held May 3, 2016 @ 5:30pm in Room 36.
