Welcomed and Called to Order Kim Chinnis
Election of Officers for 2013/2014 School Year Committee
Co-Chairpersons: Pamela Baughman and Beverly Cunningham
Secretary: Kristi Goins
New Business:
- Addition of 5th grade students for Safety Patrol in Morning Car Rider Line
- Allow elected 5th grade students to help with car riders in the morning
- Students would be in addition to the teachers that are assigned in the morning
- Facilitate with the car rider line moving faster in the morning and prevent tardiness
- Would allow extra help in the morning if the scheduled teachers for morning car rider line had teacher conference, meetings, or other obligations
- Principal Chinnis to speak with teachers at Planning Meeting this month for election of 5th grade students to participate in this
- School Improvement Plans
- Goal for Prospect Elementary is 80% or above
-Principal Chinnis to revise the goals and plans for the 2013/2014 school year
- Unanimous decision by committee for Principal Chinnis to continue with this project
- Behavior of Students
- Teachers asking that students, especially those coming down primary hallway, be respectful of classrooms with noise level, courteous behavior, etc.
- Asking for all teachers to be consistent in behavior plan at Prospect
- Principal Chinnis to review with all teachers at Planning Meeting on Wednesday October 23, 2013
- Prospect Cub Paws
- All teachers felt that this has had a positive impact on the students
- Provides for positive reinforcement and praise when classes follow rules, use appropriate behavior, etc...
- "White" paws awarded from Principal will continue to equal 3 "blue" paws and class that reaches a set level will continue to receive prizes
-Parent Voiced concern about Phonetic Assessment for 1st Graders
- First grade teachers explained this is a new testing criteria for 2013/2014
- Encouraged parents to continue to read at home with students, make reading a fun experience and "stretch" words
- Ideas to assist with this were sent home with parents after parent/teacher conferences
