Ann Phelan, TD- News Update-

POLLING STATION CHANGED TO BOYS NATIONAL SCHOOL-

“As some may not be aware, voting will take place in the Boys National School, Wood Road, on Friday, 22nd of May, and NOT in Duiske College, as has ordinarily been the case. Based on the number of complaints I have received over the last number of days from voters who find Duiske College much more convenient, I contacted the office of the Returning Officer and received confirmation that the decision to move to the Boys National School was taken by them in conjunction with An Garda Siochana. I have expressed reservations about this and will be working to establish a more viable alternative for next time. I will keep you all updated.”

NEW RAMPS FOR FAIRVIEW-

“Following on from my update on 06/05/2015, I am happy to confirm that works have commenced on the construction of new ramps in Fairview.”

E-FIBRE BROADBAND FOR GRAIGNAMANAGH

“Following a number of queries that I received in relation to broadband and specifically, E-fibre broadband for the Graignamanagh area, I can confirm following contact with Eircom, that E-Fibre Broadband will be available in Graig by the end of 2015.

This delivers speeds of up to 100mb and is currently being rolled out around the country. It will result in good quality, high speed broadband and if you are already a customer of Eircom, you will automatically be upgraded for free.”

TOWN WASH

“I am delighted to see that works have also commenced on the Town Wash which has been organised by the Love Graig Committee. I was delighted to have been of assistance to the Committee in attaining funding from Kilkenny County Council for this project and wish the Committee and all local business owners who are involved, the very best. This will go a long way in making the town more aesthetically pleasing and attractive not just for tourists but for the community in general.

For more information on this or any other issue, please contact me or my office on 056 7756000/ 086 3294420.”

Dear Sir/ Madam,

We are writing to you to request help with an exciting adventure for our team.

Please take a few minutes to read our story and you may consider supporting us as we strive to do our best to represent our parish and the County of Kilkenny in the under 14 Feile Camogie Competition in Ulster on the weekend 19th to 21st of June this year.

Who are we?

We are the U14 St. Fiachra’s Camogie team from the Parish of Graignamanagh/Skeoughvosteen.

We are made up of approximately 20 hardworking, enthusiastic young people with a love of camogie!

What have we achieved?

Five years ago we started playing as a team to give girls in our parish an opportunity to play the game of Camogie together. We have won two consecutive Primary Schools Roinn C (2013) & Roinn B (2014) Finals and an Under 12 County Final Championship in 2013. We have been beaten in a Roinn B County Semi-Final last year.

Just take a look at our team!

What Now?

This year we competed in the County Feile competition and won it and NOW we will represent our county in the All Ireland Feile Tournamant in Ulster. This is the most prestigious competition in the GAA for the under 14 age group, started in 1974 for camogie and it is recognised as a huge honour for each player and team that plays in it.

And we are so excited to be representing Kilkenny in the competition this year.

How do we achieve this goal?

As you can appreciate it, this trip comes at a significant cost. The total sum involved is estimated at over €8000. The trip is totally self -financing by each club, with very little financial support available.

However, we do not want this opportunity to pass us by and we have undertaken the challenge of fundraising the costof the trip.

How can you help us?

We are open to discuss all options of support that will benefit our squad of players to help them fund this ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity. Here are some suggestions of support you might consider:

  • Financial support for the team of players to help offset the costs.
  • Providing prizes or products that we would be able to use for fundraising events.
  • Sponsoring a set of jerseys, hoodies, bags, socks or any other items we will need for to compete.

What happens now?

We hope that the above information will help you to see what a worthwhile cause this is and it has encouraged you to support us. If you can help us on our journey, please get in touch with any of our Organising Committeelisted below.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this letter and we hope to be in contact with you in the near future.

Yours in sport,
