Alcatel
Alcatel has been a leading player in value-added services ever since the Cellnet-Barclaycard home-banking phone in 1997. In February 1999 Alcatel was first to commercially ship GSM browsers and integrate a service based on pre-WAP Phone.com technology. Today, to allow operators to create, build and manage Internet portals for WAP-enabled telephones (and all other online devices), Alcatel has developed HomeTop Solutions. HomeTop is a software suite that can be used to create Internet portals with features including localization-based information and services, push channels, unified mail (text/voice/fax), and secure e-commerce payments. Alcatel will be shipping WAP 1.1 handsets and gateways in Q1 2000.
