How to create new barcode label template

For internal use

Prerequisite:

  1. Print a label file without the BIAF Program
  2. Using notepad open label file you printed, for example from directory AL500\Catalog\files\USM50\print
  3. Remove first line which begins with ##
  4. Save file with suffix xml
  5. This file will be used below

This prerequisite is not mentioned in the BIAF pdf help file

Directions:

  1. Double click file ..\AL500\BIAFLABEL\label32.exe to open program
  2. Choose “new” icon on top left or menu “file > new”
  3. Define label size
  4. Right click the label in the middle of the screen and choose “page wizard” (or click “style” icon on top)
  5. Click the + next to label type and then select your page size and label size
  6. Click “update/save”
  7. Define fields for your label
  8. Click “DataBase” (fifth icon on bottom left)
  9. Make sure you are in “DB Service” tab
  10. In “input data” field choose “Database&XML”
  11. In “database type” field choose XML
  12. In “xml source” field choose the xml file made above in “prerequisite”
  13. Alternatively you can use file which comes with installation called:
    [Path of GUI]\BIAFLABEL\Templates\cmbbar0422.xml

f.  In “xml fields” field choose
[Path of GUI]\AL500\BIAFLABEL\Templates\XmlTable
[This is not mentioned in the BIAF pdf help file]

  1. Click “edit” button to right of xml field
  2. In left pane select all
  3. Move to right pane with arrow
  4. In right pane select all
  5. Save
  6. Close window
  7. Close DataBase window
  8. Add an object such as “paragraph text”
  9. Click “paragraph text” icon on left
  10. Click on the new barcode
  11. Right click the “paragraph text”
  12. Select “Data Member”
  13. Choose type “Dynamic”
  14. Click the + “add new field” icon in the “field” row.
  15. Select the desired field
  16. In tab “Object Draw Property” write the name of the field
  17. Close window
  18. Right click “Paragraph Text” and choose “text editor”
  19. Write name you want and click “refresh”
  20. Right click object > choose “text editor” > character tab > click “Unicode Print”
  21. Add actual barcode
  22. Click barcode icon on left
  23. Click in the barcode in center of label
  24. Drag to size and place you want it
  25. To add a picture (logo) do as follows
  26. Click picture icon on left and then drag it into label
  27. Select picture in label with mouse
  28. Click the 9th icon from the left on the bottom (it has no pop up text)
  29. Choose desired picture via “file” button, and then click “change”
  30. Save label
