1  The MoEF has published a book on ‘India’s Forests’ (in inset) which gives an insight into country’s forest and wildlife resources, forestry institutions and various developmental schemes, management approaches and related Acts and Regulations. The book was released by the Hon’ble Minister for Environment and Forests on the World Forestry Day. The book can be accessed at the Website of RT Division (www.ifs.nic.in/rt).

2  The MoEF has published a booklet on ‘Capacity Building in Forestry Sector: Programmes for the Forest Officers during 2007-08’ giving details of training programmes being organized/sponsored by the MoEF and its institutions for various levels of forest officers. Copies of the booklet are being forwarded to the State Forest Departments. A softcopy of the booklet will be put on the Website of RT Division during the next fortnight.

3  The nominations for one-week courses to be sponsored till May 2007 have been finalized and forwarded to the State Governments. The lists of nominations can be accessed from the Website of the Division.

4  The nominations for two-day training workshop to be organized by XIM, Bhubaneswar during May 04-05, 2007 have been finalized and forwarded to the State Governments. The list of nominations can be accessed from the Website of the Division.

5  The MoEF vide letter dated March 29, 2007 has requested the PCCFs to forward nominations of IFS officers by May 15, 2007 for participation in the two-day training workshops to be sponsored from September 2007 to February 2008.

6  The RAC meeting of IPIRTI, Bangalore will be held on April 11, 2007 at Kolkata followed by 109th meeting of BOG, IPIRTI to be held at Kolkata on April 12, 2007.

7  In the third meeting of the Committee constituted by the MoEF under the chairmanship of DG, ICFRE for suggesting measures for strengthening institutional mechanisms, the reports of the sub-committees were discussed and it was decided to draft the final report of the Committee for submission before March 31, 2007.

8 The officers are once again requested to exercise their choices for participating in a particular course on the website itself at www.ifs.nic.in/rt. {Input format for exercising the choice for participation in a particular course has been revised. You may indicate your choice by logging-in using the password which is same as your officer code. Please change it immediately.

9 The competent authority in the MoEF has approved the revised IPIRTI Recruitment and Assessment Promotion Rules for Technical and Support Staff, 2007.

From Other Divisions:

10 South and West Asia Sub-Regional Workshop on ‘Convention of Biological Diversity: Programme of Work on Protected Areas’ is being held at WII, Dehradun from April 02-04, 2007.

11 MoEF is undertaking an exercise on merger/clubbing of Plan Schemes into thematic schemes for the Eleventh Five Year Plan. For this purpose, eight working groups have been constituted in the Ministry.

IFS Division:

12 During the month, the following appointments have taken place:

  • Shri D K Tewatia (JH:88), AIGF, MoEF as Director, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, GoI
  • Shri S M Sahai (AM:89) DCF, Regional Office, MoEF, Lucknow, as Director, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi
  • Shri R K Srivastava (MT:85) presently CF, Regional Office, Lucknow as Director, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi
  • Shri C D Singh (AGMUT:87) joined as AIGF (FC), MoEF
  • Shri Mohinder Pal (HP:81) has joined as Director, HFRI, Shimla
  • Shri A. M. Singh, (AM:86) has completed his deputation tenure at IGNFA, Dehradun

In the MoEF, the work allocation of the IFS officers has been revised as follows:

  • Sh. J.P. Misra, (AGMUT :92) as AIGF (Survey & Utilization), MoEF
  • Sh. A.K. Joshi (MT:89) as AIGF (Forest Conservation), MoEF
