Español I –Proyecto sobre España

*Ms. Vicenzi will assign three people to each group, and each person in the group will have a specific role.

Team Member 1: This person will focus on the designated building/feature of Spain. He/she will research how it was designed and built, as well as interesting features of the building. This person will be responsible for including graphics as well.

(This person will represent the architect or a laborer who worked on the building in the final prese Córdobantation.)

Team Member 2: This person will focus on the historical significance of the building/feature of Spain in the larger context. They will research what purpose it was meant to serve and describe its importance in Spain today.

Example: If you worked on the Mesquita de Córdoba, you’d focus on religious change in Spain.

(This person will represent a modern day tour guide in the final presentation.)

Team Member 3: This person will focus on the cultural aspects of the region of Spain in which the building is located. They will research details such as geography, weather, cultural traditions, and food.

(This person will represent a chef from that region for the final presentation and will make a culinary dish typical of that area for the class.)

Presentation Options: Groups will have a variety of presentation options, however all groups must get approval by Ms. Vicenzi ahead of time. You are encouraged to use a variety of formats!

Ideas include PowerPoint, poster, video, travel brochure, etc.

Grading: 2/3 will be based on each student’s performance, the final 1/3 will be based on the group as a whole.

Possible Research Topics:There will be no overlapping topics. The options are:

  • El Escorial – San Lorenzo del Escorial

  • La Catedral de Santiago de Compostela + Camino de Santiago – Santiago de Compostela
  • El Acueducto – Segovia
  • Catedral Primada Santa María de Toledo - Toledo
  • Museo Guggenheim– Bilbao
  • Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla – Sevilla
  • Catedral and Muralla- Ávila
  • Castillo de Santa Barbara – Alicante
