SUMMER Internship – Communications and Fundraising

Job summary

As Communications & Fundraising Internyou will help build CSC’s public recognition and international profile. You will help identify organisations that could be approached to fund CSC and its work.

  • Working Hours: part-time, flexible timing
  • Location: Central London at CSC’s office
  • Expenses: this is an unpaid volunteering opportunity. Expenses reimbursed to a flat rate of £20 per day
  • Reporting: direct report to the Communications Manager & Fundraising Manager
  • Duration: summer, approximately 3 months but flexible

The Consortium for Street Children (CSC) is a global network that raises street children’s voices, promotes their rights and improves their lives.We do this through advocacy, research and network development - with communications providing vital support for all areas of our work. We have over 80 members working in 130 countries around the world. Our network comprises small and grassroots NGOs, large international NGOs, individuals and a federation of street children.CSC Executive is a small, dynamic, professional team that supports the CSC network and takes the lead on collective projects including the International Day for Street Children on 12th April.

Specific responsibilities

1. Help maintain CSC’s digital and onlinemedia presence

Post regular, relevant tweets and Facebook posts to promote CSC’s activities

Write stories for the News section of the CSC website.

2. Identify organisations (trusts, foundations and companies) that could potentially fund CSC:

Identify and research potential organisations that could fund CSC and specific projects, using online resources and keep a digital record of this research.

3. Database maintenance

Maintain the organisational database (Salesforce) by inputting and updating details e.g. contact details, donations received, researched organisations.

4. Other:

Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job

Abide by all CSC Policies, Regulations and Procedures.

CRITERIA
EXPERIENCE /
  • Using social media
  • Research using online sources

SKILLS AND ABILITIES /
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • IT skills and ability to learn new programmes quickly

KNOWLEDGE /
  • Knowledge of Wordpressand Google Analytics or similar would be an advantage

EDUCATION/
TRAINING /
  • Ideally degree level or equivalent

OTHER
REQUIREMENTS /
  • Commitment to realising street children’s rights
  • A self starter who is keen to be part of a small team making a big difference
