ESSAY QUESTIONS

Please answer the following questions. A brief typed paragraph is sufficient for each.

1)  Explain why you wish to participate in this program and how it will support your goals.

2)  The course is designed as a team-based experience and will need you to be able to work effectively as a team member. What strengths and weaknesses will you bring as a member of a close-knit team?

3)  Field programs can be unpredictable and challenging. They require flexibility and adoptability to cope with unfamiliar surroundings, delays, last-minute scheduling changes, and more. How will you maintain a positive learning atmosphere within the class, amidst challenging circumstances?

4)  Zambian students and colleagues will be a part of this course. In what ways will you need to behave differently to successfully interact with Zambians and gain their respect? Will you need to modify our American classroom cultural ways?

5)  During the course, we will be living together and eating our meals together. You will be sharing a room with another student. What experience have you had with group living? What do find enjoyable about group living? What do you find difficult about group living? What have you found to be effective coping strategies for the aspects you find difficult.
