CYBER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT ESSENTIALS, IPv6 & SECURITY WORKSHOP TRAINING for MICRONESIA

PARTICIPANT GENERAL INFORMATION

The Asia Pacific Internet Centre (APNIC), and the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) with the support of AusCERT, ICANN and IT&E Guam/Marianas will hold a joint training workshop for the Micronesia sub region in Guam, covering Internet Resource Management, IPv6 Implementation, Cybercrime, Network Security & Forensics, and CERT operation. The event will be held from 10-14 August 2009.

All members are welcome to attend. Special invites are particularly to the members in the Micronesia region whom we have brought this training workshop much closer to their doorsteps, on these specialized topics on cyber security, internet & IP resources management and IPv6.

REGISTRATION AND IDENTIFICATION BADGES

Members who wish to participate in the workshop should complete and submit the online pre-registration formon later than 4th August, 2009. (go to Upcoming Events and select appropriate event)

Name badges will be at the Registration Desk during registration. For identification and security reasons, all participants are requested to wear the meeting badges at all times during the meeting.

AIRPORT TAX

No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport

AIRPORT TRANSFER AND ACCOMMODATION

Participants should make their own transportation arrangements from the Airport to their respective hotels, and return, including to the venue.

Transportation can be arranged with King Bus Tours, charges are $55/hour (minimum 2 hours).

2. WEATHER AND TIMEZONE

Guam has all season hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 28-35 degrees centigrade. August is into the rainy season and cool, light clothing and umbrella is recommended, and a light jacket for night.

3. BUSINESS HOURS

Guam, well known as the major US Base in the Pacific with a population of over 1 million. Guam is divided into two parts with one part serviving the military installations while the other has the retail and commercial centre with a number of head offices and businesses servicing commerce, manufacturing and tourism.

Major hops are open seven days a week 24/7 with general business hours from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with lunch hour form 12-1pm

There are many restaurants [providing a variety of styles and cuisine many featuring live music. Asian, Lebanese and Italian restaurants feature alongside traditional American and European fare.

4. CURRENCY AND CREDIT CARDS

The local currency is US Dollars (USD). The commercial banks in the city, Forex bureaus, and hotels provide currency exchange facilities.

Internationally recognized credit cards are accepted by the hotel and department stores (Visa, Master, Diners Club, and American Express) for the purchase of goods and for any other financial transactions.

5. ELECTRICITY

Electricity voltage is 120 volts with pin configuration Type A - NEMA US/Japanese 2-pin configuration. You are advised to take along your universal adaptor if you are not from countries using dissimilar pin configurations and voltages.
