Weekly Songs and Shared Readings: / Monday: Shared Reading of familiar winter songs – Focus on return sweep and tracking of individual words- circle high frequency words (the, it, and) with wikki sticks – Model how to complete math board graphing activity using signs of winter on large bulletin board
Wednesday: Sequence the story pictures from Bear Snores On using the clothesline – Re-read story to confirm story re-telling – determine most exciting part of the story (climax)- dramatize the feelings of the characters on these three pages (22-24) – discuss what clues we used in the story to make these inferences – introduce story re-telling game
Friday: Use text on p.1-3 of Bear Snores On for shared reading – add actions to the words to make them come alive. Guess what part of the story the text is taken from. What clues did we use to make this prediction? Go back to the book and look at the illustrations found on these pages - discuss the different feelings generated by the warm and cool colours used in the illustrations on page 2 – 3 – show re-organization of paints at painting table
