6.  Click Connect.

7.  The following window message will appear, just click Continue.

8.  A window listing the campus, followed by the word ‘Mac’, will appear, select the campus and click OK.

9.  The folder where the applications are stored, or to be stored, for your campus will appear.

10.  An icon will also appear on your desktop.

11.  This concludes the connection using AFP.

To access the MACAPP Server for your school, using SMB for newer applications:

1.  On the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on Go.

2.  Click Connect to server… (Or use the shortcut keystroke: Applekey-K)

3.  In the Server Address line, type without the quotes, “smb://macapp1/<school>mac”. For example, the individuals at Anderson High School would type: "smb://macapp1/andersonmac". Your school name will be only letters and one word. An example for individuals at Highland Park, they would use "highlandparkmac" and "St. Elmo" would use "stelmomac".

*NOTE: Remember to replace the server name macapp1 with macapp2 if your campus is located south of the river (campuses who’s student use the POLLUX domain).

4.  Click Connect.

5.  In the next window, type the domain name, username, and password.

Domains include the following:

SASI – for all staff/teachers,

Castor – for students at campuses North of the river

Pollux – for students at campuses South of the river.

6.  Depending on the number of students at your school, it will take a short time for a window to open displaying all of the schools student home folders.

7.  An icon will also appear on your desktop.

Making an alias to the application:

1.  After connecting to the MacApp server using the directions above, click on the application.

2.  Drag the application to the desktop, but do not release the mouse button just yet.

3.  While still pressing the mouse button, hold down both the Apple and Option keys on the keyboard at the same time.

4.  Release the mouse button first, then the Apple and Option keys. You should now have an icon on the desktop with the little black arrow on the bottom left. This signifies that it is indeed an alias.

5.  If the black arrow is not located at the bottom left of the newly created icon, then the folder was probably copied to the desktop on accident. Repeat steps 1 and 2, remembering to hold down both the Apple and Option keys BEFORE releasing the mouse button.
