The Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Committee has established the following Eligibility Criteria and Structure as the basis for Nursing scholarship candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
1. MiraCosta College Nursing student
2. Must be a resident of Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Marcos or Vista
3. Minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrates motivation, determination and financial need
4. Must include a Letter of Recommendation from an Instructor
5. Must include a Personal Essay
6. Must complete and attach a MiraCosta College Foundation Fall 2010 Scholarships application and Personal Statement
Structure of the Scholarship
· Scholarships will be awarded to nursing students attending an accredited college
· Scholarships range from $1,000 to $1,500 per academic year
· The scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, lab fees, uniforms, childcare, transportation, or computer accessories
· The scholarship is not automatically renewable, recipients must reapply each year
· Scholarships are not awarded to those working towards a Master’s degree
· Recipient will be notified by letter of their scholarship award with disbursement details
· Scholarships are granted regardless of gender, race, color, creed, or disability
· The Auxiliary will be notified by the recipient’s school if the student awarded a scholarship discontinues or fails the nursing program.
Personal Essay
Attach a one-page, typed, double spaced essay with your name and MiraCosta student ID# at the top of the page. Include in the essay your career goals, background information, motivation, determination, and financial need.
