Welsh Exchange Scholarship Information
1. The Welsh Society of Greater Cincinnati has established a $500 scholarship to be awarded annually to a student or students who have been accepted into the University of Rio Grande’s fall exchange program with Trinity Saint David in Carmarthen, Wales, to assist with the costs of travel. Financial need must be documented. Upon return from their semester abroad, the recipients(s) will present a talk on their experiences to a meeting of the Welsh Society of Greater Cincinnati held in Shandon, Ohio. The student(s) will agree to travel to Shandon to address the meeting, most likely to be held at the end of February or first of March to coincide with St. David’s Day, and will be given complimentary lodging for one night at Plas Cadnant Bed & Breakfast, owned by WSGS President, Sian Stow. 2. The Welsh Society of Central Ohio offers an annual scholarship of $500 for student(s) at URG who have been accepted into the exchange program and show financial need. Apply through the Madog Center after acceptance into the program.
3. Griffiths Travel Scholarship will award up to $500 to student(s) from URG to offset the cost of airfare. Students must have been accepted into the Welsh exchange program with Trinity Saint David and show financial need. Apply through the Madog Center for Welsh Studies.

4. Women’s Welsh Clubs of America Scholarship is a gift that is based on academic achievement, financial need and participation in worthwhile activities. Documentation of Welsh heritage is also a plus. Checks will be payable to successful applicants in equal installments at the beginning of each term of the academic year, provided applicant maintains eligibility. Travel is not necessarily a part of the award. An official transcript of academic progress showing the applicant’s cumulative unadjusted GPA must be sent by Records Office to the Scholarship committee at the end of each term. 5. National Welsh American Foundation “Lloyd Family” Scholarship awards up to $1000 to cover travel-related expenses to Wales in undertaking studies to Welsh-American history and culture. Financial need must be documented. See attached flyer with scholarship information.
