Learning Goals:
W.9-10.10. Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of tasks, purposes, and audiences.
L.9-10.1. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
L.9-10.1b. Use various types of phrases (noun, verb, adjectival, adverbial, participial, prepositional, absolute) and clauses (independent, dependent; noun, relative, adverbial) to convey specific meanings and add variety and interest to writing or presentations.
L.9-10.2. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.

L.9-10.3a. Write and edit work so that it conforms to the guidelines in a style manual (e.g., MLA Handbook, Turabian’s Manual for Writers) appropriate for the discipline and writing type.
Task:
For this assignment, you will be writing a letter all about yourself. Your audience is your parent(s)/guardian(s) (who will read it on back-to-school night) and me (who will assess it for clarity, organization, style, G.U.M.S.).
Address the letter to your parent(s)/guardian(s) and include the following information in organized, well-developed paragraphs:
· three traits that describe you with detailed explanations why (evidence)
· your most memorable (positive) family experience
· a short term or a long term goal that you have for your life and how you plan to achieve that goal
· If you could change one thing about yourself or the world, what would it be and why?
· OTHER TOPIC: Think of another topic or use the following question: What you would do with a million dollars if you won it tomorrow?
Your letter must be in proper letter format. It must be typed and fit on one page single-spaced
