President and Chief Executive Officer
of the Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce

The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce is conducting a search for a new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead a non-profit organization with approximately 450members. The Chamber’s current Present and CEO has resigned effective as ofJanuary9, 2015, to take a new position with the State of Nebraska’s Chamber of Commerce. The following is a brief outline and job description for applicants who are interested in becoming the Bellevue Chamber’s new President and CEO.

The President and CEOreports to the Chair of the Bellevue Chamber’s 23-member Board of Directors and is also a member of the 5-member Executive Committee of the Board. The CEO will operate an office with a small staff of dedicated, full-time employees and a large number of volunteers. The CEO oversees all Chamber activities to promote and facilitate economic development, enhance government and public relations, increase membership and highlight our vibrant business community. This executive will: create sustainable strategic, tactical and financial plans for Board review and approval; develop measurable goals related to membership retention, growth and staff performance objectives; promote positive relationships among military, government and community constituents; and develop useful member services and programs. The CEO provides the vision and leadership necessary to create a high level of enthusiasm, expectancy and momentum among the membership, volunteers, staffand business community.

Ideal candidatemust have a proven track record of success and may come from a variety of backgrounds, such as (i) serving as an executive within a progressive and comparably-sized chamber of commerce, (ii) work experience in economic development and/or (iii) experience as a senior level executive with oversight and management of a municipal or business organization. Significant Board interaction and experience leading large numbers of volunteers is strongly desired. College degree(s) and significant work experience required.

Outstanding and challenging opportunityfor a chamber, economic development or private/public sector executive to lead and grow this organization. A focus on growing an engaged and active membership is required, along with providing leadership in working with the City of Bellevue and Sarpy County to recruit business development. The newly opened Highway 34 Corridor in southeast Bellevue can become a catalyst for new and expanding industrial business development, and the new Chamber President will play a vital role in carrying out the goals and objectives of the recently approved LB 840 initiative (which was approved by voters in November 2014). The Chamber enjoys a reputation as “the” business-focused organization in Bellevue, and the new President and CEO will need to explain his/her vision for maintaining and enhancing that reputation.
