Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2018 Announce a Charity Auction for Qatari Designers
- DJWE offers Young Qatari Designers anopportunity to compete with international brands
- The proceeds from the auction will go to Education Above All (EAA)
- AlBahie Auction House will feature bespoke jewelleryby Young Qatari Designers
DOHA, 7th February 2018: Organisers of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) haveannounced todaya partnership with AlBahie Auction House. The new partnership will promote the Young Qatari Designers (YQDs)initiativeby hosting an exclusive charity auction on the fifth-day of the exhibition (February 25), where buyers can bid on a signature piece designed by this year’s local designers.
The Young Qatari Designers initiative is patroned by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and returns to DJWE 2018 as part of its commitment to nurturing young talent and creativity. The proceeds from the auction will go to Education Above All (EAA), a global movement that contributes to human, social and economic development through the provision of quality education.
Acting as a platform for showcasing their new collections, three new and three returning talented Qatari designers will unveil bespoke jewellery collections for the exhibition, from which a signature piece will create a showstopper item for the charity auction. The items include a selection of opulent jewellery including a necklace, earrings, a tiara and a bracelet
The YQDs eagerly awaiting their opportunity to shine alongside exclusive pieces from the world’s most prestigious jewellery and watch brands include; Nada Al Sulaiti (Hairaat); Nouf Al Meer (Nouf Jewellery); Ghada Al Buainain; Leila Abu Issa (Leila Issam Fine Jewellery); Shikha Mohamed(Al Ghla Jewellery); and Jawaher & Hissa Mohammed Al Mannai (Ghand Jewellery).
Ahmed Al Obaidli, Director of Exhibitions at Qatar Tourism Authority said: “Supporting entrepreneurs and constructive social initiatives are two of the most important goals that Qatar Tourism Authority is working to achieve. The creative pieces from the six designers for the auction are luxurious, bespoke items that will leave a personalised mark at this year’s special DJWE edition.Ghand Jewellery will be presenting “Mihrab”, a pair of diamond and white gold earrings designed as tops of curving archways with suspending lines of baguette and round-cut diamonds set in8.61 grams of white gold with 2.74 carat white diamonds.AlGhlaJewellery will present “Tiara” as their signature piece, set inyellow gold withthe outline of the State of Qatar in mother of pearl amongst starbursts of rubies.Leila Issam Fine Jewellery will showcase“Ombres”, a pair of white gold diamond and pink sapphire earrings each designed as tops of round and petal-shaped sapphires withyellow diamonds suspending a line of white diamonds and terminating in round- and petal-shaped pink sapphires.
“Qatar,” is Nouf Jewellery’sitem for the auction, a Qatari flag inspired white gold hinged-bracelet with 2.05 carat round-cut diamonds and 11.80 carat rubies, totalling 684 stonesset in36.85 grams of white gold. Hairaat’s, “Sleeping Beauty,” is a pair of drop earrings each designed as tops of oval-cut natural turquoise framed by round-cut diamonds suspending a single Tahitian pearl.. And, finally Ghada Al BuainainJewellery has designed “Pipe in Gold,” a white gold necklace erupting in a specatular cluster ofpearls and diamonds.

The six-day event will take place between 21-26 February at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), featuringmore than 400 brands from over 10 countriesbringing an extensive display of classic and contemporary luxury collections by internationally-recognised brands and designers.In addition, this year’s 15th edition will also offer new experiences, from the one-day DJWE Forum and daily industry talks, through to watches and jewellery workshops.
