CES PTO Meeting Minutes

In attendance: Darlene Bleau, Jennifer Felts, Joanne Wolfe, Khristina Ulmer, Amy Fink, Maryann Hannay, Jason Chevrier, Carissa Zuniga, Kathleen Misiaszek, Vicki Adler, Alicia Fletcher, Susan Penn, Lorrie Pizzola, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Champoli

Meeting called to order at 6:20 pm.

1President, Jen Felts welcomes those returning for another year along with new parents.

1Review of PTO Minutes of June 7, 2011: Call to approve Joanne Wolfe, 2nd by Amy Fink.

1Community Garden Presentation: Chris Charsky and Karen Harris presented that a Community Garden would be beneficial for ELA, Math, Science and History. Opportunities to engage and excite the students, teachers and community. Could be used as an outdoor classroom. Currently being referred to as CES Agricultural Project (CESAP). Currently has board approval. Seeking PTO expertise to involve community and parents and to assist onto the next step. Suggestions were made to contact youth groups and churches. Susan Penn volunteered to be the liason between PTO and CESAP committee.

1Treasurer’s Report: Proposed by Jen Felts to move $4000 from Checking to Savings account. Leaving $3,833.45 in Checking. Call to approve by Joann Wolfe, 2nd by Amy Fink. Proposed by Kathleen Misiaszek to retitle the Playground Fund to cover a broader spectrum. Retitle will be Student Enhancement Fund. Call to approve Kathleen Misiaszek, 2nd by Khristina Ulmer.

1Acknowledgements & Recognitions:

A Thank you to Susan Penn for organizing and those who assisted on Kindergarten Bus Day to hand out crayons and flyers.

AThank you to Mary Anne Champoli for volunteering to be the PTO/Teacher liason.

AThank you to Amy Fink for organizing and being our contact for School Store. Currently looking for volunteers to run the lunchtime school store. In the future, the school store may look into the possibility to selling School Supply Bundles.

AThank you to Glenda Salerno for organizing the lunchtime School Banking program. A new bank (CapCom) is making this program available to our students this year.

1 Upcoming Events:

A Community Fair. Efforts have been made to make the fair interesting and fun for all ages. Volunteers putting in two or more hours will receive FREE lunch and be entered into a special drawing. Many more activities have been planned. Unlimited fun with the purchase of a wristband has been established this year. Sign-up and informational packets have been home with students.

ASpirit Sales: Mark Hoffman has been invited to attend the October meeting to show samples of this years items.

AEntertainment Book: Books were sold last year as a small fundraiser. This year the vendor has requested that we pre-purchase the books. Call to approve the pre-purchase of 4 cases, Joanne Wolfe, 2nd by Khristina Ulmer.

1 2011-2012 School Directory forms are going home this week.

1 2011-2012 Chairs are Needed: Susan Penn circulated the list of chairs needed. Thank you to Khristina Ulmer who has volunteered to Chair this years Holiday Bazaar.

1Principal’s Corner: Mr. Chevrier thanked everyone for coming to meeting and for all their help. Mark your calendars, October 20th is picture day. Hair combers are needed.
