Text Book:Elementary Statistics, fifth edition by Allan G. Bluman

Prerequisite:Mathematics 125 with a minimum grade of C.

Assignments:There will be homework problems assigned for each section we will be covering. You are expected to have them completed before the beginning of the next class meeting. On each test day, all homework that covers topics on the test will be collected as a set. The assignment should be presented neatly and labeled appropriately. You must show all work for any credit. A total of four set of homework assignments will be collected, and each worth 15 points. Total points from homework will be 60 points. Any late homework will be worth 50% of the actual points.

Exams:There will be four tests during the semester in addition to a Comprehensive Final Exam. Each of the four tests will be worth 50 points, and one bad grade will be dropped. Also you will have a final comprehensive exam, which will be worth 100 points.

Make-up Exams:No make-up exams will be given.

Attendance:Regular attendance is necessary. The course moves very rapidly. Excessive absence combined with missed tests will likely result in your being dropped from the course.

Grading:All grades will be determined by the usual percentages:

90% to 100%A

80% to 89%B

70% to 79%C

60% to 69%D

Less than 60%F

NOTE:

  • Attendance at each class meeting is expected. A student may be dropped for excessive unexcused absences. Student is expected to come to class promptly and regularly. So, you should make your best effort to attend class every day.

If you stop attending class, it is your responsibility to drop the class. Failure

to drop will result in a grade of F.

  • Students who wish to drop a course should always OFFICIALY WITHDRAW FROM A CLASS by processing a CLASS WITHDRAWAL FORM (obtained from the Admissions office).
  • There is no eating or drinking allowed in the classroom. Bottled water is acceptable. All pager and cell phones are to be turned off or muted when class is in session.

  • Please review the academic dishonesty policy in the class schedule. If you are caught cheating, you will receive a disciplinary F in the course and your name will be reported to the appropriate dean.
