SPECIAL ON-SITE SCREENING OF

TRAVEL TRAILERS

A special screening of travel trailers has been scheduled for May 13, 2009 starting at 8 am Central Time at Columbia, MS. The units being made available may require some repairs. These units are free to Federal agencies and State Agencies for Surplus Property (SASP). Your only cost is the transportation from Columbia, MS.

If you are unable to attend the screening, but would like travel trailers at Columbia, please email your request with the lot numbers you want to before May 8, 2009. An inventory list will be available the week prior to the screening. This list will have the lot numbers listed on it. If the units are still available, your request will be honored at the conclusion of the Federal screening.

Please monitor the www.GSAXcess.gov website for more special screenings being set up around the country. Additional screenings will be conducted in Maryland, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Dates to be announced.

THE PROCESS FOR FEDERAL AGENCIES

Quantity Available: 520 Travel Trailers

Most travel trailers use a 2 5/16 ball, they are pulled by a 250 or 350 pick up truck. Some, but not many, require a 2 in ball. We recommend that anyone picking up trailers be prepared to have either size.

To Request: If you or your representative is present at the screening, requested items will be physically tagged (tags will be provided at screening) with your agency’s name, representative’s name, and phone number on the tag.

If you can not be present, email your request with the lot numbers to by May 8, 2009.

Paperwork: GSA will be on-site to approve all Standard Form 122s. If possible, agencies are encouraged to bring blank pre-approved 122s signed by their agency with them. A fax machine will be available on site for those agencies unable to bring a blank pre-approved 122.

Removal: Agencies will have 15 days to remove the property.

INSPECTION AND ALLOCATION FOR STATE AGENCIES FOR SURPLUS PROPERTY (SASPs)

Inspection Time: 8 am CT 1817 Hwy 43

Allocations Start: Approximately 1pm CT Columbia, MS 39429

The SASPs will inspect starting at 8am CT on May 13, 2009. Once the Federal agencies have finished, approximately 1pm CT, GSA will start allocating to the SASPs. If possible, allocations and paperwork will be completed on May 13th. It is possible for the process for the SASPs to last until the morning of May 14, 2009.

All agencies will have 15 days to remove the property. You MUST schedule an appointment with FEMA prior to showing up to remove your units.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

SPECIAL SCREENING

FEMA TRAVEL TRAILERS AND MOBILE HOMES

If possible, bring a blank, pre-approved Standard Form 122 with you to the screening. If it is pre-approved, the person approving it should be someone within your agency that has the authority to approve the acquisition of excess government equipment

The people attending the screening should bring their Federal ID. If they do not have a Federal ID, they should bring a letter from the agency authorizing them to screen on behalf of the agency at the special screening. This letter should be on Agency letterhead.

Come prepared to be outside in the elements (rain, sun, heat, humidity, etc) for the entire screening. Expect temperatures in the 80’s at least.

The trailers and mobile homes are in fields and dirt/gravel areas. Dress appropriately.

If anyone attending the screening has special needs that need to be provided for (for example, uses a walker or a wheelchair), please email so accommodations can be made.

If you are prepared to start removing your trailers/mobile homes on the same day as the screening, that WILL be allowed. FEMA will be prepared to start allowing you to remove property after the SF 122 has been approved by GSA and it is safe to haul the unit out.

When removing the trailers/mobile homes, you or your designated company/individual must present a GSA approved SF 122 to FEMA. You or your representative must always have a copy of the SF 122 with them in order for FEMA to allow you to remove the property.

The travel trailers and mobile homes cover a large area, be prepared for a significant amount of walking.

Assume that none of the trailers or mobile homes is winterized.

No water will be available for the SPECIAL SCREENING bring your own.
