PURPOSE:

To serve and assist the Zacharias Institute and the US Speaking Teamthrough research, critical analysis, and writing

SUPERVISION:

The Research Coordinator reports to the Director, Zacharias Institute.

The Research Coordinator works closely with the Directorof the Zacharias Institute, as well as the Assistant Director and the Dean of Studies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in guiding the research focus of the Zacharias Institute’s Academy In-Sight: A National Summit for Campus Ministry Leaders, to be heldin February 2018.
  • Research the state of Christianity on university campuses in the U.S.—percentage of Christians in the student body, university evangelism efforts, concerns raised by participating campus ministries,students’ common objections to Christianity, etc.—and write a comprehensive brief on your findings, to be distributed to speakers and participants prior to the summit.
  • After the summit, produce a paper outlining the primary focus and outcome of the conference—popular questions, ideas for strategic evangelism,overall conclusions, etc.
  • Provide research support for other conferences and programs of the Zacharias Institute.
  • Produce written content and assist in curricular design for resources of the Zacharias Institute, including pre-program manuals and post-program material for continued learning.
  • Draft written content for website and marketing communications.
  • Assist in turning Zacharias Institute talk content into written articles.
  • Critically review the arguments and findings of articles, academic journals, books, etc. for use in internal and external speaking engagements and/or publications on behalf of the Zacharias Institute.
  • Provide research support to the RZIM US Speaking Team, as requested by the Director or Assistant Director.
  • Attain appropriate permissions for the use of copyrighted materials.
  • Respond to emails pertinent to current research projects or requiring research expertise on behalf of the Zacharias Institute.
  • Take the initiative to be conversant with key apologetic issues of the day.
  • Assist in other areas as needed, under the discretion of the Director or Assistant Director.
  • Take an active part in the devotional life of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be in agreement with and committed to upholding RZIM’s Statement of Faith and Statement of Values as well as its stated Mission and Vision
  • Must have a broad knowledge and understanding of various theological issues and practice discernment
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred (Theology, Philosophy, Religion, etc.)
  • Strong, effective written and spoken communication skills with an ability to communicate cross-culturally with an internationally diverse team
  • Must be a team player and be willing to receive and act on direction
  • Evidence of and a commitment to practice a high level of confidentiality
  • Must have organizational skills and ability to focus on strategic areas of responsibility
  • Must be proactive in learning new ideas and procedures that may be required as the ministry grows
