Global Category Manager, Road Freight, for our International Purchasing Office, Dublin, Ireland

As part of the International Purchasing Office(IPO), the successful applicant will lead the Sourcing, Category Management, Supplier Management, and Program Deployment for all Road Freight.Global sourced spend would exceed $250 million annually.
The categories and services include Less-Than-Truckload, Full Truckload, Specialized Road Freight (Flatbed, Oversize/Over Dimensional, Drayage, Dedicated, Private Fleet, and etc.),and Small Package and Air Express including any specific services offered by the suppliers in the category.
Other responsibilities include assisting in developing the business and logistics processes, updating/managing the rates/services, and managing suppliers to performance metrics. Also, provide appropriate support to Logistics Programs or for the deployment of software systems.
The Manager assures that Eaton’s procurement and operational activities flowing in and out of the IPO and the Global Logistics Function are as efficient and effective as possible. The Manager also assures that the customer, business, logistics, and regulatory requirements of the Eaton businesses are met while driving toward maximum leverage across all of Eaton.
Essential Functions:

  • Establish and build strong internal relationships IT leadership team, SCM regional leadership and key stakeholders to clearly understand material and service requirements.
  • Lead the supplier market analysis and ensure supplier qualifications for RFQ’s.
  • Lead the development of RFQ’s and analysis for supplier selection.
  • Lead supplier negotiations for the enterprise on requirements, commercial terms and conditions.
  • Build performance based supplier relationships that lead to optimal pricing, quality improvements, process improvements and delivery of world class solutions.
  • Provide services that optimize Eaton internal and external material flow costs and ensure peak performance/service levels are delivered by Eaton logistics service providers.
  • Develop future business, material, and logistics models that optimize material flows within a sector, across sectors, and across regions and support the development of standard processes and tools necessary to meet the future material velocity requirements of Eaton.
  • Monitor, design, implement, and direct logistic services and providers related to global logistics and material flow optimization across internal businesses in support of corporate strategy, initiatives, and goals. Organizations served have annual sales in excess of $24 Billion.

Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree required.
• Cost Reduction Methodologies including Logistics OPEX, Lean and Six Sigma.
• Integrated supply management and materials / logistics management.
• Road Freight and International Parcel transportation expertise, including market knowledge and competitive landscape for LTL, FTL, small package and air express, and logistics services.
• Global freight and logistics flows, including understanding of carrier processes, pricing models, and service models.
• Willingness to travel (up to 50%).
• Expertise with lean process engineering and process modeling.
