CHARLES AZNAVOURATTENDING GALA OPENING OF 25TH PRAGUE IFF – FEBIOFEST
The French actress Catherine Deneuve has cancelled her visit to Prague for the Prague International Film Festival – Febiofest due to serious health issues. The French-Armenian singer, composer and actor Charles Aznavour will, however, be attending the festival, where he will receive the Kristián award.
French starCatherine Deneuve’s planned visit was called off unexpectedly. According to the festival’s spokesperson, Gabriela Vágner, the actress was taken ill shortly before Febiofest’s opening. “A few hours before Catherine Deneuve was due to board a plane, her agent informed us that Ms. Deneuve’s doctor had said he did not recommend that she fly. We agreed with the agent that she would inform us about Catherine’s condition and if it were at all possible we would be glad to welcome here in Prague any time during the course of the festival.”
Catherine Deneuve was due to take part in today’s gala opening of the 25th edition of the Prague International Film Festival – Febiofest and receive the Kristián award for lifetime contribution to cinema. Tomorrow she was also scheduled to introduce one of her films, A Christmas Tale by director Arnaud Desplechin, who is also a distinguished festival guest.
It is also our great honour to welcome to Febiofest another illustrious guest, the multitalented Charles Aznavour, who is almost 94 years old. The singer, who alongside his music career boasts an extensive filmography, is coming to the festival’s opening ceremony on 15 March. “We are very glad that such a legend is attending our festival. We are looking forward to the evening with Mr. Aznavour at the Municipal House and also hoping a little that when he goes to the stage for his Kristiánhe will perhaps sing for us,” added Febiofest director Kamil Spáčil.
