Upgrade policy for the Hobie Tiger class
(Agreed by the IHCA Council at the Annual General Meeting November 1, 2005, Port Elizabeth, South Africa)
1. It is agreed that more requests for changes and upgrades must be foreseen for the Hobie Cat Tiger than for other Hobie Cat classes because of the nature of the class and its dual role as an F18 class boat.
2. When a Tiger sail plan change is accepted and made legal by the IHCA no new sail changes shall be implemented for that sail for a minimum period of one year. Each sail (mainsail, jib or spinnaker) shall be considered individually. Example: if the mainsail is changed like ST to STX, then the sail cannot be changed again for one year from the date that it becomes legal for racing in that region.
3. Requests for sail changes shall be submitted in writing to the IHCA Rules Committee with a detailed description of the requested changes and the reasons for them. The IHCA shall decide whether to accept or reject a sail plan change request, within a period of maximum 3 months including a web-based comment period of minimum 45 days, unless a longer period is agreed with the IHCA Advisory Council on a case-to-case basis. If agreement cannot be established between the licensed builders and IHCA, it will mean no change. Sail plan changes agreed by the IHCA Council are subject to final approval by ISAF in accordance with ISAF Regulations.
4. The provisions of General Class Rule 24 apply to all other requests for changes to the Hobie Cat Tiger Class.
5. The date of legality shall be notified to the sailors by posting on the IHCA website at least 6 months in advance.
