PREPARING FOR SURGERY:
- Call your surgeon to report any changes in your physical condition (ie. Sore throat, fever, cold)
- The date and time of your surgery has been reserved for you. If you cannot keep your appointment time, please call your surgeon’s office.
- IF YOU ARE GOING HOME the same day as your surgery, bring someone to drive you home. For your safety, a responsible adult must remain with you for 24 hours after surgery.
- You will call 706-721-8896 between 6:00pm – 8:00pm the business day prior to your surgery for your arrival time. (ie. Monday surgery will call the Friday before)
MEDICINES:
- Take your medications the morning of surgery as instructed during your pre-op interview.
- Bring a current list of all your medications (or your medications in their original containers) with you the day of surgery.
- STOP any vitamins, fish oil, herbal supplements, anti-inflammatory products (ie. Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aleve) one week before surgery.
DAY BEFORE SURGERY:
- DO NOT EAT or DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT. This includes gum, candy, mints, coffee, water, etc.
- DO NOT SMOKE or DRINK ALCOHOL 24 hours before and after your surgery.
- DO NOT SHAVE or REMOVE HAIR from any part of your body.
- Shower the morning and night before your surgery. See bathing instructions on back.
DAY OF SURGERY:
- Shower again
- Brush your teeth and use an antiseptic mouthwash. This helps decrease postoperative complications such as pneumonia.
- DO NOT wear makeup, lotion, perfume, deodorants, hairpins, jewelry, body piercings, fake hairpieces (such as weaves/wigs), or acrylic nails the day of surgery.
- Follow medication instructions as listed above.
- If you wear contact lenses, dentures, hearing aids, bring storage cases with you.
- Leave all money and valuables at home.
- Wear loose comfortable clothes.

BATHING INSTRUCTIONS:
Showering before surgery reduces the amount of germs on your skin. This helps prevent infection.
SHOWER 3 TIMES. The morning and night before your surgery and the morning of your surgery.
After each shower:
- Use a clean towel
- Put on clean clothes
The morning of your surgery DO NOT use makeup, lotions/creams, hair styling products, or deodorant after your shower.
