Job Description

Reports to:

Head of Fundraising

Purpose of job:

This role supports the fundraising team to generate income, with specific responsibility for sales of our magazines and publications and for fundraising events, so that the Trust can make a greater positive impact on the everyday lives and future life chances of children and young people in care.

Key responsibilities:

Fundraising

  • To recruit and support individuals taking part in fundraising events and initiatives (such as runs and bike rides).
  • To help with the researching, drafting and sending out of funding applications.
  • To work on fundraising promotional materials (including website, e-newsletters, social media).
  • To assist the Head of Fundraising with other fundraising activity as required.

Magazines

  • To contact customers about subscription renewals by phone and email as appropriate.
  • To help identify and target lapsed and potential new subscribers for the Trust’s magazines.
  • To liaise with the distribution company to ensure orders reach subscribers.
  • To promote the magazine and generate sales

Publications

  • To receive, fulfill and dispatch publication orders.
  • To monitor stock levels.
  • To promote all titles and generate sales

General

  • To draft and distribute marketing emails to maximise sales of magazines and publications.
  • To update and maintain contact records on our database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Delivering the highest standards of supporter care and representing the Trust professionally at all times.
  • To liaise with the communications team about all external fundraising communications.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

  • Experience of fundraising and/or marketing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Confident telephone manner.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with ability to manage own workload effectively.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Willing to use initiative and exercise good judgement in decision-making.
  • Able to take an innovative and creative approach to work.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to the vision, mission and values of The Who Cares? Trust.

  • Willingness to undertake some out of hours work and travel as the job requires, for which time off in lieu and expenses will be provided.
  • Experience of working or volunteering in a charity or voluntary organisation.

Desirable:

  • Experience of using a CRM database.
  • Experience of using content management systems.
  • Experience of using Mailchimp or similar software
  • Understanding of the issues affecting children and young people in and from care.
