7.  Do not destroy any property on the bus.

8.  Do not distract the driver with misbehavior such as loud talking, excessive movements, touching, etc.

Morgan County Schools Discipline Plan:

Drivers will:

1) Always be consistent and fair.

2) Always discipline the behavior, not the child.

3) Always discipline without letting behavior slide which causes a child to be resentful and get confused by mixed messages.

4) Never threaten, discipline should be straight forward.

5) Discipline without anger.

6) Whenever possible, speak in private.

Student Discipline Consequences:

(The bus driver will use written referral forms for misconduct on school buses. This will be presented in person by the bus driver to the administrator of the student’s school. The bus driver will phone the parent to make them aware of the referral. The administrator of the student’s school will call the parent to inform them of the consequence.)

1st Offense – Verbal warning

2nd Offense – Written warning (discipline form)

3rd Offense – One day suspension

4th Offense – Three day suspension

5th Offense – Five day suspension

6th Offense – Ten day suspension

Severe Clause: If the discipline is severe enough to warrant total suspension or even expulsion from the bus, the above steps will be skipped and appropriate action will be taken. Please encourage your children to ride safely.

Discipline offenses start over every year and do not carry over from year to year unless a suspension or expulsion is carried into the next year. Guidelines for Special Education and 504 students will be followed as outlined by Policy 4373 and Policy 2419 as appropriate.
