HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

COMPENSATION AND CLASSFICATION

Salary: $46,154.50 - $71,600.78 Annually (DOE)

Job Profile:

·  Human Resources, a Department of The City of Lakeland, Florida is seeking applicants’ with successful experience in assisting in the administration, development, and maintenance of the Compensation & Classification functions across the organization. A high degree of initiative, independent judgment and analytical thinking are required with established policies, procedures and legal compliance.

Skills Required:

·  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field.

·  Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources.

·  Two (2) years in compensation and classification activities.

·  Certified Compensation (CCP) or coursework leading towards certification is desired.

·  Municipal government/union environment experience preferred.

An employee in this class is responsible for performing job evaluations, job reclassifications, position analysis, desk audits and organizational structure reviews. This position will also be responsible for performing market studies and internal job analyses to ensure pay practices are competitive both internally and externally. Conducting and responding to wage surveys is also required. A team member is also expected to create and modify job descriptions including reviewing and editing those submitted from other departments to ensure appropriate job classifications.
