TRAFFIC COLLISION INVESTIGATION

DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to enhance the investigative techniques of a traffic collision investigator. This course will show the student how to conduct a complete inspection of a motor vehicle from bumper-to-bumper in order to determine if any of the vehicle systems caused or contributed to the outcome of the collision.

PREREQUISITE: Must be a full-time or reserve peace officer OR have a specified duty assignment where the student is required to work with law enforcement traffic collision investigators. MUST HAVE A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE MAJOR STRUCTURE OF VEHICLE COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS.

PRESENTATION DATES & HOURS: This is a 40-hour course that will be presented on the above listed days. The course begins at 0800 hours to 1700 hours each day.

LOCATION: This course will be presented at the Riverside Community College, Automotive Technology, Building #6, 4800 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506.

CERTIFICATION & FEES: POST Plan IV. Total course fee: $239.00. Payment must be received prior to or on the first day of class in a single check should be payable to Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are required to have a notebook, have safety shoes/boots, clear safety glasses & overalls and/or work-clothes available each day of class.

CANCELLATION POLICY: The Riverside Sheriff’s Department sponsors this course at the Riverside Community College campus. Courses are offered based on scheduled attendance. Failure to attend or cancel at least 10 days prior to the course date will result in a charge of the full course fee or a $25.00 administrative fee (whichever is greater).

DRESS CODE: Agency uniform or casual business attire with collared shirt. NO sandals, shorts or T-shirts.
