§  Facebook, Twitter’ banners, etc.

§  Ages 20-39 did survey mostly Caucasian

§  Most people supported because new someone or had attempted

§  Be clearer about what the event was going to be – was only suggestion – add question to survey – how many children did you bring and what were you hoping they would get out of it.

§  Comments- were overwhelmingly positive

§  Message – if you are thinking about it – you are not alone or if you have a friend it is more important to get help then worry about making person who has SI upset

§  A way for people to grieve

§  Next year potential date Sept. 21, 2013 – had to be in Sept (Suicide awareness month) for grant.

§  Suggestion to do something around holiday time

§  Purchased a number of items that will be inventories so that it will be able to be used as needed – coolers, markers, air pots,

Grant possibility - same place we got suicide mini grant used for walk – Mental Health America

If you have other info you are eligible to apply – one community and need two other communities to mentor – Clinical Mental Health Services committee sent a letter of intent – bulk of funds would be to hire a coordinator – three years to promote prevention of suicide – three-year grant

Need a group to work on it soon – If interested in being part of group – contact Alicia Oczus at

Would really need to think through who will be fiscal agent for grant - have to be a non-profit to apply

Supervised by Jess? –

No one opposed to exploring the grant application/possibilities

Child Death Review summit in Madison – CPS rep will bring back stats

Youth Risk Behavior Survey – will be info to include – districts can alter survey to meet district preference

Resource directory – students are struggling to get people to call back – where MH resources are and identify gaps in services

In Jvl – a graduation coach is doing a resource document

Associates in Psychotherapy – two bilingual MH providers Crossroads – may have one Gary?

Also - no African-American therapists – we need to advocate that agencies to hire therapists of color – may want to connect with others in communities working on parallel issues – it takes extra recruitment –

Tried to get a subcommittee going for cultural competency that also included mental health issues– didn’t get going address cultural competency in Mental Health Provider community - what drives it is whether or not it will be profitable

Renee – chairperson of - Diversity group in Beloit did not know

Develop a sub-sub committee ??? - bring it to table of a committee in community already promoting cultural competency.
