Homosexuality and Same-Sex Marriage

Homosexuality
1. Is wicked and sinful (Gen.13:13; 18:20).

Gen 13:13 (NASB) Now the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly and sinners against the LORD.

Gen 18:20 (NASB) And the LORD said, "The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave.

2. Is an abomination (Le. 18:22; De. 23:17-18; I Ki. 14:24).

Lev 18:22 (NASB) 'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.
Deu 23:17-18 (NASB) "None of the daughters of Israel shall be a cult prostitute, nor shall any of the sons of Israel be a cult prostitute. "You shall not bring the hire of a harlot or the wages of a dog into the house of the LORD your God for any votive offering, for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God.

1 Ki 14:24 (NASB) And there were also male cult prostitutes in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD dispossessed before the sons of Israel.

3. Is a capital crime deserving of capital punishment (Lev. 20:13; Rom. 1:27-32).

Lev 20:13 (NASB) 'If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Rom 1:27-32 (NASB) … and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and, although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

4. Is of the Devil or Satanic and foolish (Judg. 19:22-23 ).

Judg 19:22-23 (NASB) While they were making merry, behold, the men of the city, certain worthless fellows, surrounded the house, pounding the door; and they spoke to the owner of the house, the old man, saying, "Bring out the man who came into your house that we may have relations with him." Then the man, the owner of the house, went out to them and said to them, "No, my fellows, please do not act so wickedly; since this man has come into my house, do not commit this act of folly.

5. Is condemned by God (I Ki. 14:24; Col. 3:4-6; II Pe. 2:6; Jude 7).

1 Ki 14:24 (NASB) And there were also male cult prostitutes in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD dispossessed before the sons of Israel.

Col 3:4-6 (NASB) When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it is on account of these things that the wrath of God will come,

2 Pet 2:6 (NASB) and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly thereafter;

Jude 1:7 (NASB) Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example, in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

6. Is to be eliminated by government officials, not tolerated or encouraged (I Ki. 15:11-12; 22:46; II Ki. 23:7).

1 Ki 15:11-12 (NASB) And Asa did what was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father. He also put away the male cult prostitutes from the land, and removed all the idols which his fathers had made.

1 Ki 22:46 (NASB) And the remnant of the sodomites who remained in the days of his father Asa, he expelled from the land.

2 Ki 23:7 (NASB) He also broke down the houses of the male cult prostitutes which were in the house of the LORD, where the women were weaving hangings for the Asherah.

7. Is characteristic of a society that has rejected or turned its back on God (Rom. 1:24-32).

Rom 1:24-32 (NASB) Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, that their bodies might be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

8. Is a sin that keeps people out of heaven (I Cor. 6:9-10; Gal. 5:19-21).

1 Cor 6:9-10 (NASB) Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Gal 5:19-21 (NASB) Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you just as I have forewarned you that those who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

9. Is a sin from which one can be delivered (I Cor. 6:11).

1 Cor 6:11 (NASB) And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

10. Is unclean and dishonorable (Rom. 1:24).

Rom 1:24 (NASB) Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, that their bodies might be dishonored among them.

Marriage

Definition from Matthew and Genesis

Mat 19:3-9 (NASB) And some Pharisees came to Him, testing Him, and saying, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause at all?" And He answered and said, "Have you not read, that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, and said, 'FOR THIS CAUSE A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, AND SHALL CLEAVE TO HIS WIFE; AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH'? "Consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." They said^ to Him, "Why then did Moses command to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY?" He said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart, Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery."

Genesis 2:18(NASB) Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."

Gen 2:24 (NASB) For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
