Crawford County R-I Schools at Bourbon, Missouri, is soliciting statements of qualifications from qualified engineering firms. The proposed design work will include:
Provide design services, including exact drawings of improvements.
Coordinate the process of the necessary acquisition of right of way.
Coordinate all timely submittals to MODOT, including but not limited to all right-of-way clearances, environmental clearances, and Plans, Specifications, and Estimates.
Assure the existence and preserve all books, documents, papers and other evidence pertaining to the cost incurred in this project, and participate in any forthcoming audit of said project.
Provide on-the-job inspection of materials and work to guarantee compliance to specifications, and participate in all required formal inspections.
Project Description: The School District, along with the City of Bourbon, determined that the need for making significant improvements along the main route to the elementary and middle school campuses. These improvements will be made with the placement of a flashing warning signal at the intersection of Old Route 66 and West Pine Street and with the construction of new sidewalks linking the intersection this intersection to the elementary and middle schools.
The improvement shall consist of 1560 lineal feet of concrete sidewalks connecting to existing sidewalks at the northeast quadrant of the intersection of Old Route 66 and West Pine Street. Having crossed to the west and south of the intersection, the sidewalk will follow along the west rights-of-way of Old Route 66; turning west and following along the north side of Bernice Street. Major improvements along Bernice Street will require the construction of a retaining wall, imported fill, and fall protection along the top of the wall in addition to a barrier curb to separate the new sidewalk from the traffic of Bernice Street. At the conclusion of the west end of Bernice Street, an opening in the fence exists. From this opening additional sidewalk is to be constructed on school property to match existing walkway at the school’s entrance.
Scope of Services: Actual scope of services are to be negotiated.
Proposals for consideration of services should include a statement of qualification related to the work identified above, individual experience of the staff to be assigned, and the firm’s experience with Safe Routes to School compliances and requirements of MoDot and the LPA process.
