The following main roads and highways within the Wheatbelt South Region boundaries are open to all traffic.

These include:

·  Albany Highway

·  Northam – Cranbrook Road / ·  Narrogin – Kondinin Road
·  York – Merredin Road
·  Pinjarra – Williams Road

·  Collie – Lake King Road

·  Brookton Highway

ROADWORKS

Albany Highway – North of Arthur River

Construction of new passing lanes has commenced. Full traffic management is in place with speed restrictions through the work site. The project is scheduled for completion by
mid-April 2013

Northam Cranbrook Road (Great Southern Highway) – Popanyinning to Brookton

South of Popanyinning sealing works will commence Monday/Tuesday weather permitting expected to be completed by mid- May.2013

Brookton Highway –Brookton

Remedial pavement repair works will be carried out between 29th April to 03rd of May between isolated patches on SLK 70.330 to 110 . Full traffic management will be in place while the road will be passable with single lane access for all traffic.

Williams Pinjarra Road

Vegetation work will commence Monday on the Williams Pinjarra Road from Collie Williams turn off. Into Williams Townsite until Wednesday Full traffic management will be in place

Narrogin Kondinin Road

Vegetation work will commence 15 May between Kulin and Kondinin. Full traffic management will be in place, minor interruptions to the flow of traffic will occur as required.

Lefroy St Asphalt Overlay

Intersection is located at the Junction of Lefroy St and H053 William Narrogin Hwy in Narrogin. Brief scope of work comprises of profiling, sealing and asphalting.

Program is expected to take 3 days between 13th of May to 15th of May subject to weather. Full traffic management will be in place with after care. Speed will be restricted to 40Kms/hr however one lane will be available for passing the traffic.

Collie Williams Road- M037

Surface correction works will be carried out on 13th May near Burngup South intersection. Full traffic management will be in place speed will be restricted to 40Kms/hr while the road will be passable with single lane access for all traffic.

Northam Cranbrook Road- M031

Surface correction works will be carried out on 14th of May between isolated patches on SLK 157 to 165. Full traffic management will be in place , speed will be restricted to 40Kms/hr while the road will be passable with single lane access for all traffic.

BRIDGE REPORTS

Bridge 442 Collie –Lake King Road over Arthur River in the Shire of West Arthur

Substructure and guardrail repairs alternating single lane closures’ under traffic light control and 40km/h at all times. Open Lane width 3.7m. Ground clearance over 1.2m required for vehicles with wide loads. Commencing 02/05/13 expected completed 24/05/13

Bridge 3062, Over Wandering Brook on Crossman - Dwarda Rd, within the Shire of Wandering; This Bridge is undergoing substructure repairs and is restricted to one lane with traffic management by temporary traffic lights. This work is expected to be complete by 28 April 2013.

Bridge 884, Over Hillman River on Williams - Darkan Rd, within the Shire of Williams. Alternating single lane closures under traffic light control 40km/ at all times. Open Lane width 3.6m. Ground clearance over 900mm required for vehicles with wide loads Works expected to be completed 19 April 2013

Current State Road Projects

Brookton Highway, Bulyee section

A 7 km section of Brookton Highway is being realigned to improve the road alignment and improve access to the Bulyee grain bin via a new intersection. Construction commenced in November and is scheduled to be completed by June 2013.

Northam–Cranbrook Road, Cuballing East intersection within Cuballing Townsite

The Shire of Narrogin will widen the intersection and add slip lanes to improve access to the Northam- Cranbrook Road from Wickepin. Service relocations are underway with construction scheduled to commence in April 2013 and be completed by the end May2013

GRAIN FREIGHT IMPROVEMENT STRATEGY

As part of the State Government’s grain freight investment program, Main Roads is managing 64 projects that will see more than 480 km of state and local government roads upgraded across 15 local governments from Nungarin in the north, Kulin in the east and Narrogin in the south. Main Roads is also delivering the state road projects, which are scheduled for completion by mid-2013.

Projects on local government roads will be delivered by the local governments and will be completed by mid-2015. The network will remain fully operational throughout this upgrade, although there will be some traffic disruptions at times. Please observe all traffic signs and drive with caution through construction areas.
