Work Schedule:To be determined. Office hours are 8 AM – 5 PM Monday – Friday.

Pay:$8.40 to $17.28 based on classification, accrued school units and work hours

Major Project:Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Recreation Survey / Inventory due June 30, 2015.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Student / Graduate Student Assistant will provide geographic information system (GIS) data research, entry and publication of maps, charts, graphs and tables. The Assistant will also prepare recreation survey instruments and contact lists, telephone and email survey targets, analyze results and prepare reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Student shall be registeredat a UC, CSU or California community college (CCC)in one of the following fields of study: biology, environmental science, geography, natural science, oceanography, physical science, physics, statistics, wildlife, applied technology, business, computer information systems, computer science, technology, applied technology, civil engineering or engineering.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 3 units of GIS coursework with a strong interest in GIS.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with professional and technical staff, and the public, both verbally and in writing.
  • Student must be enrolled and attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Winter and Spring) at any accredited college or university. Minimum enrollment:
  • Undergraduate students: a minimum of six (6) semester units or nine (9) quarter units
  • Graduate students: a minimum of four (4) semester units or six (6) quarter units

Desirable Qualifications:Student should have knowledge of,and practical experience with, ESRI ArcGIS, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, and Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel and Word. Skills in formatting reports, clear and concise writing and editing, and production of informative graphics such as maps, charts, graphs and tables are preferred.
