General Meeting Minutes – April 17, 2018

A General Board Meeting of the Folsom Hills Elementary (FHE) PTA was held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, in the library at Folsom Hills Elementary School located at 106 Manseau Drive, Folsom, CA 95630.
Welcome/Introduction/Attendance
a)FHE PTA President Terri Langley called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm. Those in attendance included: Terri Langley, Melissa Bustamonte, Jenn Bird, Melissa Sheridan, Amy Martin, Shawn Lundberg, Kelly Mihelich, Kelly Vander Hamm, Sharon Johnson, Nicole Roberts, Audee Solis, Ruth Farfan, Joanne Johnson, Kari Bjork, Michelle Kwek, Anna Parker, Mercedes Kirk, and Renee Dunn. (18 total)
Principal’s Report
a)There will be two staff members retiring this year: Donna Fratini (Health Assistant) after 28 years and Smita Kilkarni (Librarian) after 20 years.
b)A new librarian, Chrissy Brown, was hired for the 2018/2019 school year.
c)Tentative class lists for next year have been made. Folsom Hill’s is expecting the studentpopulation to be approx.600 students.
d)CAASPP Testing is going well. This year the day was broken up differently and this seems to have been a positive change for the students.
e)PTLW training for the teachers on staff was very effective.
f)Modernization update: No plan is set in stone. The school board will make their final decision at a meeting in May.
Secretary’s Report-Jennifer Bird
a)Upon a motion by Melissa Sheridan and a second by Melissa Bustmonte the minutes from the March 20, 2018, meeting were approved
Treasurer’s Report-Melissa Sheridan
a)Melissa Sheridan reported on activity from February 1, 2018, through March 31, 2018
b)From February 1st through 28th the operating balance began at $24,049.32 and ended at $29,016.15, the savings balance began at $37,728.28 and ended at $34,349.01, and the PayPal account began with a balance of $0.00 and ended the month with a balance of $22.41. Checks written during this time included check #s 4611-4626
c)From March 1st through 31st the operating balance began as $29,016.15 and ended at $35,509.86, the savings balance began at $34,349.01 and ended at $34,349.89, and the PayPal account began with a balance of $22.41 and ended with a balance of $29.88. Checks written during this period were check #s 4627-4642 and totaled $1,376.72.
d)A motion to ratify these checks was made by Kelly Mihelich and seconded by Michelle Kwek.
President’s Report-Terri Langley
a)Elections for the 2018/2019 PTA Board were held. Wendy Webster was elected President, Michelle Harrison was elected Executive Vice President, Melissa Sheridan was elected Treasurer, Michelle Kwek was elected Recording Secretary, and Terri Langley was elected Financial Secretary
Upcoming Events
a)The fourth and fifth grade track meet will be held on April 20, 2018 at Cordova High School.
b)STEM Night will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
c)Teacher Appreciation Week’s lunch for teacher is being coordinated by Renee Dunn
Teacher Updates
a)The 2018/2019 School Play is scheduled to be held on February 7 and 8, 2019. It will possibly be a production of Peter Pan Jr.
Adjournment - There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 pm. The May General PTA meeting has been moved to May 22, 2018.
