Unitarian Universalist Church of St Petersburg Updated Dec. 14, 2016

WRITERS’ GARRET AGREEMENT

This agreement is between the Unitarian Universalist Church of St Petersburg and any church member, for use of the room above Gilmour Hall, hereinafter known as the Writers’ Garret, and dated ______2016. It is meant to be an agreement with ______for a three-month trial period beginning Dec.11, 2016.

Because the room and its access are unique, and because a Writers’ Garret is a new use of the space, additional rules of use are needed and may be amended as needed after a trial period of three months.

  1. Garret users will be church members and each user will receive a building key after paying a key deposit of $50, which is refundable upon return of the key. No other usage of the room will be permitted. UUSP reserves the right to inspect the room at any time.
  2. For security, the doors of the building are to remain locked at all times unless there's a separate event going on in the building at the same time.
  3. A damage deposit of $50, in addition to the key deposit, is required by each user, which is refundable upon their notice to discontinue usage.
  4. For security and to avoid possible misuse (like sleeping overnight), the hours will be limited to 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. When entering and exiting the building, each Garret user must update a usage log to document her/his presence and departure.
  5. Behavioral Expectations: (a) No extension of space-use privileges to guests; (b) No conversation in the Garret, but okay downstairs in Gilmour if no activities are happening there; (c) No food allowed and carry away own trash daily.
  6. Fees: Only refundable key and security deposits.
  7. Any furniture is the responsibility of the user(s), and the church is not liable for damage orloss of the furniture.
  8. Each Garret user agrees that no air conditioning or heat can be provided by UU St. Pete. Each user must provide their own furnishings, fans, etc., such as will fit comfortably and cooperatively with those of other users. No candles, flammables, space heaters or appliances are allowed. All electrical usage (e.g., lamps, clocks) is to be turned off when the last user leaves the room.
  9. Service, pet, or Emotional Support Animal will be allowed to accompany Garret users so long as they are well controlled, quiet, and do not disturb other Garret or building users. A dog may accompany a user on a time-seniority basis. For example, if the user who is first to use the space has a dog, but that dog cannot quietly coexist with that of a later signed user, that of the later signed will not be allowed to return until a use time for each user is negotiated by the users or with the minister.
  10. Garret users may leave reference materials, books, etc., in the Garret, but are advised not to leave laptops, electronics, etc. UU St. Pete will not be responsible for lost or stolen items nor will it guarantee restricted access or use of the garret when writers are not present.
  11. If more than one user is present in the Garret, all music or other audio should be enjoyed via the use of headphones at a volume that cannot be heard by other users. All audio must be kept at a volume that cannot be heard beyond the Garret, i.e. elsewhere in Gilmore or the Sanctuary.
  12. Other than space in the Garret, no on-going office support will be provided by UU St. Pete. For example, there should be no expectation of copier, fax, phone use, mail service, or conference table. Phone calls are to be made or taken outside of the Garret, and should not be audible to others in the building. Problems or questions should be directed to the minister, the president of the board of trustees, or another board member (if needed).
  13. Each user is expected to cooperate to keep the Garret clean. This includesdailytrash removal, sweeping and dusting.
  14. Because the Garret is an experimental project, these rules will be reviewed after three months (March 12, 2017) and amended as needed. The minister and president will review names of users, total hours used, and any issues and concerns.
  15. All questions and concerns about the Garret should be directed to the minister, the president of the board, or in their absence, another board member.
