A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO OFFER WARMEST AND HEARTFELT CONGRATULATIONS TO THE HONORABLE AND MRS. J. ROLAND SMITH OF LANGLEY ON THE OCCASION OF THE CELEBRATION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, AND TO EXTEND TO THEM AND THEIR FAMILY EVERY GOOD WISH FOR SUCCESS, HEALTH, AND CONTINUED HAPPINESS IN THE YEARS TO COME.
Whereas, James Roland Smith and Peggy C. Cato were married on March 3, 1953, at the home of Lewis and Lena Gregory in Langley, South Carolina; and
Whereas, over the course of their marriage Roland and Peggy Smith have raised a beautiful and loving family of three children, Garry Roland Smith, Todd Dawayne Smith, and Caroline Melissa Smith; and
Whereas, as their sons grew into manhood and started families of their own, the Smiths acquired two daughtersinlaw whom they love dearly, Brenda Harmon Smith and Tammy Gaillard Smith; and
Whereas, Roland and Peggy are the proud and loving grandparents of eight grandchildren, Michael Grady Smith, Amber Nicole Smith, Dana Michelle Smith, Todd Dawayne Smith, Jr., Brady Cleo Couch, and Margo Blair Tallent; and
Whereas, the date of March 3, 2003, marks the Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary of J. Roland Smith and Peggy C. Smith. An important milestone in their lives, it also marks fifty years of love, devotion, and mutual support that enabled them to be the strong, loving Christian couple they are and the good friend and caring neighbors they have been to so many over the years; and
Whereas, on Saturday, March 8, 2003, the Smiths’ children, their families, and many friends will gather to honor their parents, Roland and Peggy, and to celebrate their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary at the Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church; and
Whereas, it is the desire of the members of the General Assembly to join in the spirit of this happy occasion and express both their warmest congratulations and heartfelt admiration to the happy couple on the occasion of the celebration of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, offer warmest and heartfelt congratulations to the Honorable and Mrs. J. Roland Smith of Langley on the occasion of the celebration of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary, and to extend to them and their family every good wish for success, health, and continued happiness in the years to come.
