Students will be given bookmark 3 and RWN pgs. 146 & 151 spelling words- final syllables-en, -an, -el, -le, -il
Students will be creating their own version of a poetry book using the poems we have studied as well as a few of from their favorite poets.
Students will be given a packet detailing the criteria for their poetry project.
We will complete the vocabulary for chapters 11-18 / Bell Ringer

Students read chapters 11and 12 (p. 69-79) in “Island of the Blue Dolphins” / Bell Ringer
Students will continue working on their poetry project.
We will complete the vocabulary for chapters 11-18 and read chapter 13 and 14 (p. 80-90) from “Island of the Blue Dolphins”. / Students will read chpts. 15-16. If time allows,
Students will be given the finally opportunity to complete their poetry project.
In preparation for comprehension and closing of the unit students will review test expectations.
Students will test their knowledge of poetry through assessment-“How Do You Like Your Poetry?” / Students will turn in bookmark homework and take spelling test.

We read chapter17-18 as a 5th grade level from “Island of the Blue Dolphins”.

Summative: (how will objectives be assessed, either now or in the future?) / Ending the Poetry Unit students will be assessed by taking the “How Do You Like Your Poetry?” test. / Students will take a Spelling test to understand their spelling words.
Students will take a short quiz to check understanding for chapters read this week.
