1. The Sage Colleges, Troy, NY (near Albany)
The Student Sage Award is a recognition program for outstanding students. Recipients of the award will receive a Student Sage a certificate and letter. Scholarships range from $5,000 - $15,000. The nominee(s) will be eligible for a scholarship to The Sage Colleges. Go to for more information.
Qualifications
- At least a B+ average in academic coursework which they define as Math, Science, History, English and Foreign Language.
- Rank in the top 25% of their class
- Community Service and “academic and social leaders”.
2. Le Moyne College
LeMoyne College is located in Syracuse, NY. This award provides an $11,000 annual scholarship to attend their college. AdirondackHigh School will nominate one (1) student for this award. Go to for more information.

- Minimum of 90 average in Regents, college preparatory courses
- Ranked in top 10% of class
- Minimum of “50” on each section of the PSAT
- Demonstrated leadership and service to school and community
3. WellsCollege
WellsCollege is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Adirondack HS will nominate one (1) young man or young woman from the Junior class for this scholarship, the 21st Century Leadership Award, worth $40,000. Criteria for applicants
1. A cumulative average of at least 90%+

4. RIT – Rochester Institute of Technology
RIT is a competitive college located in the Rochester area. It has many excellent programs, and is noted for its technology, engineering, computer, math, and science programs in particular. The Scholarship that two (2) of our Juniors(one male, one female) will be nominated for are each worth a total of $28,000 ($7,000 per year).

Criteria for applicants
1. Top 10% of Junior class and pursuing a “rigorous college preparatory curriculum”
2. Demonstrated leadership ability
3. An interest and ability in computing (you do not have to major in a computer-related field, however) OR outstanding achievement in innovation, creativity, or entrepreneurship.
5. RPI – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
One student will be nominated for a $60,000 scholarship to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Their website is
RPI is a competitive college located in the Albany area. It has many excellent programs, and is noted for it engineering and science programs in particular.
Students who are RPI winners typically are 90+ average students, SAT scores (CR above 600, Math above 650). If you are in this range, then you would be a good candidate.
6. ClarksonUniversity
ClarksonUniversity is located in the Potsdam, NY. Adirondack HS will nominate two (2) students from the Junior class for scholarships worth either $48,000 or $60,000. There are four (4) different scholarships available.
Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award
- High achievement and rigor in science classes
- High PSAT Math and/or SAT Math scores
Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award
- A demonstrated commitment to understanding and addressing difficult social issues
- Leadership and dedication to community action
- Strong grades and rigorous courses taken in the humanities and social sciences
George Eastman Young Leaders Award
- Strong leadership experience at school and in the community
- High grades and challenging courses
- Extensive involvement in extracurricular activities
Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology
- A strong interest in innovation and/or information technology and a high level of achievement in this area
- Exposure to new technologies outside of school, such as pursuing serious work opportunities in local laboratories or industry
- Leading other students to new approaches to old problems, e.g. business plans for fundraising; innovative community service; after-school activities; and best uses of internal communications tools such as chat and blogs
Each year, participating high schools may nominate up to four qualified students, one for each of these awards. All nominees will have their application fee waived and will be eligible for merit scholarships worth at least $7,500 per year.
Bausch + Lomb Science Scholarships are applicable only at the University of Rochester; they are not transferable to another institution.
8. Elmira College – Key Award
One student who is in the top 10% of the Junior class, has a “minimum of a 90% average in academic and Regents” classes, and outstanding school and community leadership will selected for a $60,000 tuition scholarships ($15,000 per year). Elmira College is in Elmira, NY, in the southwest portion of NYS. Please go to for more details.
