Swinging for the Holidays a Christmas Concert
Congratulations to the Kean High Music department for a breathtaking performance Thursday, December 15th in the schools’ cafeteria. The performers are: The Choir, Jazz Choir and Harmonic Rays under the directorship of Ms. Jeannette Rhymer; The Concert Band, Jazz Band, Dynamite Rays Marching Band under directorship of Ms. Dionne R. Donadelle; Devil Rays Steel Orchestra, under Mr. Glen Elskoe and Kai Callwood; Faculty Staff & Alumni Choir under Ms. Jeannette Rhymer; soloist, Col. Eddie Charles, Sgt. Patrick “Soljah” Farrell, Shemera Fahie, Uris George; Pianist, Howard Jones, Theophanies Alejandro; Percussionist, Abu Springette; alto saxophone, Je’Coy Hawley, Jason Faustin, steel drum. It was a really a wonderful night of music and dance in these joyous festivities. Job well done everyone! Especially to our very own Teacher of the Year and Music Department Chair, Ms. Dionne Donadelle.
Kean Teachers vs Students Basketball Game
The JA events organized a Basketball game, Teachers vs Students, Thursday, December 15th during 4th period in the Gym. It was a wonderful game won by the Teachers 58-54. Kean High come together to cheer both teams. Hooray Teachers! Students shout for a re-match!!!
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Testing
JROTC in collaboration with the Counseling Department administered the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test in the cafeteria on Friday, December 9th for the 11th graders, Thursday, December 15th for the 12th graders, Friday, December 16th for the 10th graders. The ASVAB is a timed multi-aptitude test, which is given at over 14,000 schools and Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide and is developed and maintained by the Department of Defense. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military career. http://www.military.com/ASVAB/0,,ASVAB_Explained1.html.
AP Parents and Students Meeting
The Counseling Department had an Advance Placement (AP) Parents and Students meeting on Friday, December 16th in the Library. It was a wonderful opportunity for the parents to meet the AP teachers, to know about their child/children progress and concerns for their AP Class and other pertinent information that will assist the students in preparing for the AP exams.

The Library will be having a workshop on Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Field Trip Series, date and time will be announced. All teachers, especially in the social studies department are encouraged to attend.
Wish-List Invitation
Teachers of English and other departments are invited to submit suggested classic titles to be ordered for our new Kindles. We also encourage suggested novels and/or resources you would like the library to procure as interesting reading materials for student’s or as teacher resources respectively. France and Monaco in depth (Educational Tour)
There will be an exciting trip coming up during our spring vacation for any interested students. From April 20 to April 29, 2012, the group will explore France and Monaco. The cost of the ten-day trip includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, a full-time EF Tour Director, daily breakfast and dinner, entrance fees to selected attractions and guided sight-seeing.
