Staff Position Description: Business Manager

Purpose: (what & why)
The purpose of this role is to manage people and resources to maximise revenue from the SisterWorks retail infrastructure. This includes the Richmond shop, Online shop, Pop Up shops, speaking engagements, Cultural and Craft workshops and In-Home events. This role is all about developing effective networks to create opportunities and organising people and technology to achieve outcomes.
Duties: (what & how)
People Management
Ensure shop is always fully staffed by volunteers and SisterWorks Entrepreneurs through rostering, training and coordinating
Train volunteers and Entrepreneurs in customer service, use of retail technology (Shopify, till, POS,) and cash handling
Manage volunteers to ensure good purchased on line are delivered appropriately to customers
Ensure consistent availability of suitable volunteers by forecasting requirement (including over school holidays), liaising with the Operations Manager/Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and select volunteers and by scheduling training and inductions.
Trading/Sales Opportunities
Increase pop up shops, speaking engagements, etc by transforming enquiries to bookings and use effective communication/marketing strategies to engage with ‘corporate clients’, supporters and customers and increase their awareness of SisterWorks
Maximise sales (online) by managing online presentation of goods for sale by coordinating volunteers to complete photography, written content, posting to Shopify and social media
Maximise sales (shop, pop ups) by overseeing visual display of goods, coordinating volunteers and SisterWorks Entrepreneurs
Identify suitable markets / pop up opportunities by Research and analysing suitability for SisterWorks products
Goods for sale
Select appropriate items for sale by reviewing the items offered by the Entrepreneurs, negotiating and setting pricing for items
Ensure items are tagged, labelled and priced by managing SisterWorks retail volunteers
On a weekly basis organise Market Packs for Pop up shops, Markets, etc by coordinating volunteers, SisterWorks Entrepreneurs, goods for sale, infrastructure, equipment, transport, etc
Reporting and Financial
Develop appropriate products for sale by liaise with the Entrepreneur Manager to give feedback on customer trends – popular items, poor sellers, requests, etc
Prepare an end of week Sales report using Shopify export and Excel, Xero Accounting
Track merchandise and stock using both online and functional reporting
Marketing and Customer Engagement
Develop and maintain the marketing/communications plan to articulate a clear path to achieving SisterWorks trading objectives
Build and maintain a functioning network by local and corporatepartners, regular customers and other supporters using the Little Green Light database
Oversee and contribute to social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn) with daily product and events posts
Manage projects such as customer Feedback Surveys, Events, etc to increase public awareness, engagement and sales.

Qualifications & Background
Organisation – excellent organisation skill to juggle multiple priorities and ensure commitments and goals are achieved to deadline
People Management – the ability to coordinate, supervise, train and motivate people including volunteers and those with limited English language skills
Volunteer Management – ability to plan for and manage a Volunteer workforce with the capacity to build strong relationships, create engagement and purpose, and establish clear guidelines and standards.
Technology – excellent ability to use a range of technology with the capacity to quickly learn new systems to best meet the needs of SisterWorks. Current technology include Little Green Light database. Shopify on line shop. Xero and Excel.
Business Acumen: demonstrated ability to support trading/sales activates to foster dependable income stream for SisterWorks and our Entrepreneurs.
Marketing: extensive understanding of strategies for using social media, email and personal representation to build and use relationships
Communication: outstanding communication skills to keep a number of stake holds informed, reminded of key deadlines and motivated.
Cultural Awareness: Experience working effectively with people from diverse cultural and language groups with the capacity to show patience, sensitivity and care.
