Role Description
A key part of the vision for the drug & alcohol recovery service as commissioned by East Sussex County Council is the provision of recovery services that build sustainable recovery capital for service users.
The café will be overseen be a steering group made of up stakeholders from the recovery community. This includes representatives from statutory and voluntary sectors as well as representatives from the recovery community.
We are looking for volunteers to support the café manager, with the day to day running of the café.

Main tasks will include:

  • Providing a warm welcome and friendly, knowledgeable customer service.
  • Promote recovery activities and sign post customers to other services as appropriate.
  • To be an active and supportive team member, treating all visitors and team members with fairness and courtesy.
  • Complying fully with all health and safety and food hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Ensuring that food served to customers is of a consistently high standard and well presented.
  • Prompt clearance and cleaning of tables and café areas.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy environment at all times.
  • Preparing food as required.
  • Assisting in the set up and set down of the cafe according to procedure as required.

Skills/qualities needed:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Have an understanding of the issues relating to recovery and our client group.
  • Able to respect and maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to attend regular supervision and undertake work related accreditation.
  • Clean, tidy and appropriate clothing and hair at all times
