2.  Play Competitive Golf – only by being a member of a golf club can you play regular official club competitions. Most clubs offer a weekend and a midweek competition, with the chance to win great prizes and money in the twos sweep!

3.  Choose How Much You Play – you could choose only to play 9 holes or a smaller loop of 5 or 6 holes if the club permits. You wouldn’t have this option with ‘pay as you play’ golf.

12.  Get your handicap down! – playing competitions regularly at your home club or in other Open competitions gives you the chance to get your handicap down to your targeted level – what most golfers are striving for throughout their life!

13.  Play in Team Matches against other clubs – you will have opportunity of representing your club in matches against other clubs, in your local area of further afield, with teams in all categories. Take pride in pulling on that team jersey!

14.  clubgolf Coaching for Juniors – more than 300 golf clubs across Scotland have now introduced clubgolf, the national junior golf strategy, giving children a structured coaching and playing pathway at your club.

15.  Invite Your Friends – most clubs offer preferential ‘Member Guest Rate’ green fees giving you the chance to invite your friends to play your course. By making this reciprocal among your golfing friends, you can play many courses at a fraction of the normal price.

16.  Play National Championships – Scottish Golf offers players of all ages and abilities the opportunity to compete on the big stage, whether you’re a scratch golfer or high handicapper. Events for club golfers include the PING Scottish Mixed Championship with the final at Gleneagles, the Scottish Club Handicap Championship and the Revive Active Scottish Women’s Medals.

17.  Become a Volunteer – Giving something back to the club can be a hugely rewarding experience and you don’t have sit at every committee meeting to help out! We have a number of sub-committees where you can lend your expertise in a relevant area, support our junior programme or even help out with a bit of gardening.
