Please note we will be reading these books gradually so we would be grateful if the plots could remain a secret!
Role Play: Delicatessen and café to encourage writing, speaking and listening and maths skills though child initiated play / What would you like to learn about Food: (questions generated by children during carpet time)
  • What do vegetables need to live?
  • How do carrots and strawberries grow?
  • How do we cook pasta?
  • How do you make pizza?
  • How can we use ginger?
  • What do people eat in other countries?

  • Writing opportunities linked to food topic e.g.
writing sandwich making instructions, writing a menu, writing labels for food in the delicatessen, writing a class Thank You letter to Arch House Delicatessen, shopping lists
  • Continue to learn ‘tricky words’, recognizing them by sight and using them to build sentences

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy:
