JOHN WESLEY – led by Barbara Hudson. The John Wesley Class will have a 4-week Advent Study beginning Nov. 29th thru Dec. 20th entitled "Sent, The Gift of Hope". A book will be provided for study and a DVD will be used in class. If you are not involved in a Sunday School class, please join us.

NOMADS’ – The Nomads class will be doing a 10 week DVD study of Dr. David Jeremiah’s “Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World”. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those

Who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Congregation of the First United Methodist Church is to continue to be a committed fellowship of disciples sharing the love of God through Jesus Christ and furnishing a place of Christian worship, programs, services and facilities for its members and the people of the Johnson City area.

Teddy Bear Ministry

You are invited to hold a bear during joys and concerns and then take it and give it to someone who needs a word of encouragement, healing, or up-lifting. We ask that you do not take one for yourself. We also welcome bears that you would like to donate. They don’t have to be new. We are able to clean most “old” bears.

Today’s Scripture

Common English Bible

Luke 3:1-6

3In the fifteenth year of the rule of the emperor Tiberius—when Pontius Pilate was governor over Judea and Herod was ruler over Galilee, his brother Philip was ruler over Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was ruler over Abilene, 2during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas—God’s word came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. 3John went throughout the region of the Jordan River, calling for people to be baptized to show that they were changing their hearts and lives and wanted God to forgive their sins. 4This is just as it was written in the scroll of the words of Isaiah the prophet,

A voice crying out in the wilderness:
“Prepare the way for the Lord;
make his paths straight.
5Every valley will be filled,
and every mountain and hill will be leveled.
The crooked will be made straight
and the rough places made smooth.
6All humanity will see God’s salvation.
