What is a Boolean Search?

Boolean logic is a tool for online searches. In the same way that add, subtract, multiply, and divide are the primary operations of mathematics, the primary operations of Boolean logic are AND, OR, and NOT. These terms are called Boolean operators.

·  And narrows a search. The more terms linked together using and, the fewer the hits.

·  Or broadens a search

·  Not excludes items from a search.

Examples:

Cancer AND women

Cancer NOT women

Cancer OR women
