Take the Dip - Action Project Report Guidelines & Submission Form
Project Guidelines
The requirements for action project eligibility is that the group use the majority of the kits provided for the project investigation, fill out the blank postcards provided with the sample results (to be returned with the kits), submit a digital photo that represents the project (JPEG file; max 5MB), and submit a short but thoughtful and detailed action project report using the submission form, below.
The action projects should challenge the group members to investigate water quality concepts and why the measures collected by the Dip kit can be important for aquatic life. Project ideas can include group trips to a local stream to conduct the Dip together, or send individual kits home with participants to complete the Dip as an assignment that they have to report back to the class/group with results. If you can't get the whole group to a stream location then you could designate a couple group members to go take a sample in a bucket that the entire group then assesses the results together.
Resources to support your action projects:
-World Water Monitoring Challenge: Under ‘Tools’ tab you’ll find guides, lesson plans, handouts, worksheets and links to more great web resources.
-Evergreen Canada: Search on their webpage for the ‘Watershed Toolkit’ and information about the ‘Uncover your Creeks’ program for great background information about urban watersheds, stormwater and water quality monitoring ideas.
Return your used action project kits to a Surrey Library sealed in the plastic bag provided within each box of supplies. Completed postcards can be sealed within the box of supplies as well.Action Project submissions and Action Project kits are due October 7. Winners of the “WIN with your DIP” for the group/class visit to the Vancouver Aquarium will be announced October 13.
