(Based on Sermon by Rev. David Edosa)
Title:YOU ARE CHOSEN ON PURPOSE
Scripture Text: Philippians 4:4 & James 1:2-4
INTRODUCTION
When we rejoice it is not because things are easy or things have turned out as we expected. We rejoice because our rejoicing is not of the world, but of the Lord. If we have to rejoice based on what is happening around us, it will be hard to rejoice, but we must allow the Holy Spirit in us, so that we can see more reason to why we need to rejoice.
Points of Discussion
Rejoicing based on James 1:2-4
Verse 2: Count it all joy when you go through trials.
Verse 3: Testing of our faith produces patience.
Verse 4: Patience produces perfection in us.
Why do we need to rejoice when going through trials?
Trials bring out what God has deposited inside of us.
God uses our trials to equip and perfect us, as well as to bring us into maturity.
God is preparing us for the battle ahead and with Him on our side, victory is sure.
Shaping us into the fine, smooth stone in the bag of our Lord, the good Shepherd.
Only God can determine our end and not the enemies.
Prepared for a purpose - 1 Samuel 17:38-49
Verse 39: There is an armor that is designed for us all and we can’t fit into another man’s armor.
Verse 40: The stones went through trials to become smooth stones with all rough edges removed.
Verse 45: Our warfare is not carnal, be spiritual and declare the name of the Lord who creates all that are seen.
Verse 49: The tested instrument was used for its purpose.
Things you need to know…..
There are things inside of us which can only be brought out through trials and testing.
To be mature, be prepared to lose some things – whatever the enemy must have meant for our destruction, God means for our construction.
What will bring down your enemies is not the obvious, but what has worked inside of you that are not seen.
If you desire to acquire, you must not retire, but perspire until you reach your required desire.
God uses crisis as His criteria for promotion.
Whatever the enemy provokes, God promotes.
CONCLUSION
Don’t stop the maturity that God has planned for you; allow God to complete what He started in you. For a successful battle, we have to use our designated weapon and not another man’s weapon because we have been chosen for a purpose. Don’t give up on you’re the desire. May God use all the provocation in your life for your promotion!
